Taylor Swift and her follies started all this witch hunting. I am sure they are all true also but why all of a sudden have hundreds come out of hiding to claim wronged. It was so bad that all them hid it for decades now?

They didn't need to request property tax abatements because non profits don't pay property tax in Kansas. They really are asking for the only handout they don't already get.

'While Washington can adequately describe the court actors and processes, Quillen said, he lacks situational awareness, attention, language and information processing abilities needed to “understand the proceedings as they are unfolding.'
And that is why we appoint him an attorney. How many higher IQ testing people can understand all the proceedings in a trial? Now move on. It's been 3 years have the trial already.

Really? I didn't have to go through a background check to get my driver's license like I did to purchase a hand gun

Why do we even need them. 30 years ago teachers did all the work. One teacher for each class. Most of the teachers in my child's school only teach 3-4 classes in a day. I remember when I was in high school teachers had one planning period a day. They taught the other 6 classes. Yet they want more money now and want a host of Para's to help them. Most of the paras in my child's school are retired teachers. So they are getting retirement, and go back to work at the same district even.
Give me a break.

"There have been 13,323 deaths this year as a result of gun violence in America"
Yes and there are at least 30,000 deaths each year as a result of vehicular traffic crashes in America. Yet we don't outlaw cars. Cars aren't protected or even addressed by the US constitution. What is wrong with people that keep letting people get behind the wheel who end up killing people. What is to stop this carnage? We can't keep the cars out of hands of drunks, or suspended drivers. We can't keep the cars out of hands of speeders or distracted drivers. We must take a serious look at outlawing cars all together.

Ken that is what they were going to do with it. It's clearly stated in the article why they are not doing that now. I would say if you have a truck and are willing to go pick it up they will give it to you for free. Just guessing.

"How about multi-level building with residential above?" Well they are doing that downtown but everyone in east Lawrence fights them because now they have to live in the shade of a bigger building.
It is just how it works. Houses / buildings get old and it cost more and more to fix them up so the prices get cheaper / rent gets lower. No one wants to pay good money for a new place to live next to a block of run down houses or businesses. So they move to the "new part of town" to develop new buildings. I don't know why the rest of this town will just get used to it. I have money (sorry about that) and I am not going to build a new business somewhere where I am not going to make money.

That's right. That's what you get when you don't keep up with improvements on basic services and infrastructure in lieu of giving subsidies to private organizations. The more you put off the more expensive it becomes.

Another reason that these "shared" governmental entities should not be allowed. It seems that every one of them has been some sort of financial boondoggle. Rock-chalk park with the agreement between the city and KU. Joint County / City agreements, I'm sure there are several others. Did we ever get our money from KDOT to fix 23rd and 6th street before they pulled the highway designations?
Why isn't someone fired over this mistake. I guarantee you if someone in charge of billing in private business overlooked billing for several years they would be out on their ear.
