If he wins, he wins. Then and only then, if found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, show him the door. Accusatory rhetoric has it's place and is vitally important to any Democratic Society as a valid means to valid solutions of valid problems. Accusations taken simply on their unsubstantiated face- value become nothing more than 'shouting matches' which justly serve no one.

Isaias, sincere thanks for the detailed Mausoleum information and your important and greatly appreciated involvement ! To your knowledge, has your City's Commission or your local Newspaper ever shared same?? Again, thank you !!

Semantics completely aside, unless any of the responders to my post have ever sadly been actively involved in the taking of other human beings' lives, you can ramble all you want about the 'true meaning' of the 2nd Ammendment, the utter grossness of today's real-world facts remain. The countless and senseless innocent lives lost in our country almost daily, without even an attempt to mandate any kind of logical and sensible National Firearms Licensure & Training is appalling and totally disgusting. Is it really any wonder the rest of the World is completely baffled and dismayed by our 'Gunfight at the OK Corral' mental morbidity...I think not.

Might I suggest a possible opportunity to save your City's taxpayer's some $$ and the associated grief in dealing with the current Legal System. Given this individual's apparent propensity for engaging & DRAG'ing your Law Enforcement folks around town, simply bring him out here to the 38th Annual Mopar Mile-high Nationals Drag Races at Thunder Mountain down in Lakewood / Denver next July. After 'warmly greeting' him at the Gates, these seasoned Professional Race-drivers will be more than willing to drag his "happy arse" up & down the track a couple of times, thus allowing him a first-hand(s) prospective of what his actions typically feel like.

As a Combat-hardened Veteran, more well aware than most, of the deadly consequences of firearms, it is insanely preposterous to, in the same breathe, require Legal Licensure in order to operate a motor vehicle, and yet nothing, nothing other than the 'all mighty $$' in order to possess and use a firearm and ammunition in your State. Absolutely, unequivocally preposterous...

( 'too busy' ), and for the love of all things Societal and Sacred, will someone with your City and/or your Newspaper please explain what is going on with the mausoleum...!!!

Perhaps Mr Barrett should take a moment to consider running for a seat on your City's 'Vaunted' Council. Irrespective of his chosen career path, it would certainly appear he's well aligned with the current Council members' modus operandi. That would be the very same Council that has blatantly refused to respond to numerous requests from Mr. Holroyd, myself and numerous, rightfully concerned others as to why absolutely nothing has apparently been done to address the previously agreed upon repairs to lawrence's national register of historic places' hallowed mausoleum. Then again, that may be unfair, as he may simply be to busy with other things to find the time to trouble himself with such a 'triviality'...

To your point, why does the JW ostensibly and incorrectly assume reader 'minimal interest sub-tab' status, the mentioned Event a prime, ongoing example...why???

louiskannen (Louis Kannen) says...

...just like in the Old West, if you weren't actually there to see the 'gunfight' at Topeka's 'ok corral', the details become rife with conflicting 'versions'. Interesting how some things never seem to change...and that creaking sound at Kansas' 'fence gates'...people packing up and leaving what was once the Proud State of Kansas.

There is no downside whatsoever in enacting strict 'Tobacco 21' legislation. The sanctimonious screaming and yelling on the part of the Tobacco Industry and their self-serving minions will only belie their turning a blind eye to the absolutely predictable health-related deaths and suffering imposed by their self-serving greed and avarice.
