If hopes and prayers work so well, why not dissolve Trump's protective service and surround him with evangelists?

Republican senators and congressmen care more about the National Rif'le Association than they do the victims of senseless gun violence. The second amendment says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." What well regulated militia did the latest shooter belong to? Lest any of you gun lovers play the "unpatriotic card" I enlisted in the Marines at age 19, served in Vietnam in 1966, and own weapons. I am no fan of the IRA, the gun lobby's best friend next to Republican so-called legislators. Civilized countries have gun control. This country has an epidemic of mass shootings. Time to vote out the gun lobby.

You pull back and lock the chamber open, then put your little finger in the chamber. Basic Marine Corps training. Pulling the trigger to see if a weapon is loaded is just plain stupid.

Lawrence needs another mega shopping center? Looks like another plan to line developers' pockets at the expense of Lawrence residents.

When I worked at KU in research administation we would have an All Hands Meeting, where the director proudly talked about how much money was being generated by research. I often asked why was not some of that money used to increase staff salaries and hire more tech support staff. Behind me, my colleagues quietly cheered me on, saying, "You tell them," but little concern was shown on the part of top administrators for the day-to-day workers, just as little concern has been shown for the academic side of KU. I believe KU began to slip as an academic institution when generating revenue from research replaced tts academic mission. The drive for money on the part of administrators, and indifference, if not hostility, on the part of state legislators threatens the liberal arts universities that have served this state and country well for decades. There is never money to increase faculty or staff salaries, but there is always money to hire another vice-chancellor for flack-catching.

Senator Roberts has revealed that his loyalty is to the GOP, not the people of Kansas, especially with his support of the Republican move to destroy the Affordable Care Act and eventually remove millions from Medicaid to give massive tax cuts to the wealthiest.

I met John as a fellow member of VVAW, then later when he was the Veteran's representative at the employment ofice. He helped me greatly and that began a long friendship that, as John once said, "Is cast in concrete." My brother.

Gee, what is that thing stuck in the chamber? Guess I'll pull the trigger and find out.

Agreed, Of course it feels good to let off steam and express dissatisfaction, but real change must come at the ballot box from identifying, supporting and voting for like-minded candidates.. The Republicans have had several years to come up with a decent alternative to the ACA but have been more interested in tearing down anything Obama has done rather than come up with a health care plan that helps their constituents.
