My comment regarding the building being torn down was directed towards Bob and not you. Sorry if it seemed that way; looks like the "@Bob" didn't get into the message.
As mentioned above, the city leases the 9,000~ square feet inside the LEC for PD operations.

@Ken: So you think just because the station is out West, Officers will no longer be downtown? Pretty silly assumption, if that is the case.
Torn down? Ok.....if that happened, where would the courts go? I assume you are being sarcastic, but it's tough to say on an internet board.

Does he ever? Richard, do some research on this topic and then come back to us.

The property at 15th/Kasold is owned by KU and they were unwilling to allow the city to build there. Very disappointing, considering a pretty good number of the contacts LPD has are with or related to the students.

Yes, because LPD has enough resources to just sit on a restaurant every day. Next you'll complain you waited too long for an Officer to show up to your call for service because the one who would've come to you is busy sitting in a car across the street from Taco Bell....

KCMO residents have to vote because they whined so much after this was attempted to be passed into law previously. Despite no tax dollars being used and MCI still retaining convenience after a new terminal is built, so many people are too blind to see that and want to stay in their 1970s way of thinking.
As far as your claim that "it has never been an international airport", that is simply untrue. MCI has US Customs and Border Protection Officers on scene to process inbound international flights. As of now, we have four airlines offering nonstop service to CUN. When they fly back to MCI, all passengers must clear customs, aka an international flight. We also have service to Punta Cana, DR, beginning next year. That, too, is an international flight. Additionally, MCI has nonstop service to YYZ. The return, however, pre-clears in YYZ, so pax arrive to MCI as if they were a domestic passenger.
MCI also receives lots of charter and other private flights from international cities all the time. Your lack of knowledge in this area should not be used to claim it's a fake international airport.

Not just downtown, but pretty much everywhere Kathleen might go during the day. Dillons, The Merc, Starbucks, etc, etc, etc...

If you read the various articles about the shootings, Officers were already downtown and in the immediate area when the shots broke out.
Cameras would be very useful downtown to aid in suspect identification.

Topeka Capital Journal reported he'd been charged 2x with felon in possession. This would've been his third, which they claim likely would've been the final 'strike' and given him a life sentence.
