<b>What is the University’s rationale for pursuing a multimillion dollar football project when the football team is losing and academic programs could use more money?</b>

Jim Marchiony, associate athletics director for public affairs at Kansas Athletics, said in an email: “Kansas Athletics is pursuing improvements to Memorial Stadium to improve the game-day experience for Jayhawk fans and to give our coaches and student-athletes the means with which to compete at the highest level of Division I college athletics. Any such project will be funded by private donations raised by Kansas Athletics, not with funds that would have otherwise gone to academics.”
