<b>Why does Kansas University football need to go with the powder-blue and black uniforms when the school colors are crimson and blue? What’s the reason for the color change — can’t they follow tradition? </b>

The football team’s powder-blue and black uniforms are “alternate” uniforms that will be worn just once per season, associate athletics director Jim Marchiony said. The use of alternate uniforms such as those has become common in college football in recent years, he said. And, he added, the powder-blue get-ups are actually a throwback. The KU football teams led by John Hadl in the 1960s wore the same color.
