Sound Off: Water bill
Why has the city suddenly made my water bill due a week earlier than last month, with no explanation or notice of service changes?
Megan Gilliland, the city’s communications manager, provided this answer: The city hasn’t changed water bill due dates. Some of the March billing cycles were delayed because of the snow in February which prevented staff from physically being able to read the meters and calculate the water usage. All cycles are now back to normal billing dates. Additionally, customers are receiving their new winter averages which can cause the sewer portion of their utility bills to be higher or lower, depending on previous usage. The new water and sewer rates do not go into effect until May 1.
