Question

Sound Off: Can a public high school ID be used to meet the Kansas voter ID provisions?

Answer

Douglas County Clerk Jamie Shew said Douglas County will recognize public high school IDs as valid photo identification. Shew said the new law allows for IDs from “municipal, county, state or federal government or agency.” He said “municipal” is not defined in the voter identification law, but he said other parts of the Kansas statutes define municipal as including public school districts. ID cards from private schools, however, can’t be used as a valid photo ID under the voting law.
