Sound off: Is there any place in Lawrence that would help senior citizens do their income tax for free?
Yes. Free tax assistance is available to residents ages 60 and older and those with low to moderate incomes at the Lawrence Senior Center through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program.
Sarah Merriman, district coordinator for the program, said volunteers are offering assistance through April 17, this year’s tax deadline, at the center, 745 Vt. Instead of providing services on a walk-in basis only, they are scheduling appointments. To make an appointment, call 856-0365 between noon and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The program is providing tax assistance from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
