On Bob Billings Parkway, near Kasold, there’s a vacant lot that belongs to KU. Every year there’s hay that has been harvested in big bales. Who harvested it and what’s done with it once it’s been harvested?
Jill Jess, a KU spokeswoman, said the land is owned by the KU Endowment Association, which leases it to KU to be used by researchers.
In exchange for clearing the land and keeping it free of trees and weeds, a local farmer harvests and keeps the hay.
