Question

How does the dew point temperature play such a big part in severe weather?

Answer

Matt Elwell, 6News meteorologist, offers this explanation: “Dew point temperatures are a measure of the amount of moisture in the atmosphere. Water vapor is buoyant and adds more potential to rise and form clouds and under the right circumstances, storms. The more moisture, the more likely we are to have strong storms form.”
