Is Lawrence Memorial Hospital hoping to achieve Magnet status recognizing its nurses? If so, when? Are there any hospital surveys about employee or RN satisfaction made available for the public to see what progress is needed to achieve Magnet status?

Dana Hale, vice president of nursing at LMH, said a decision to apply for Magnet status has not been made.
Magnet recognition was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence. The program is based on quality indicators and standards of nursing practice as defined by the American Nurses Association Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice.
LMH follows Magnet criteria, and Hale said it is demonstrated by outstanding nurse retention, high satisfaction scores from patients and high scores from nurses on job satisfaction.
These are reported in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators survey and HealthStream employee satisfaction survey.
“We know from these surveys that, in fact, nurses are the most satisfied group of employees at LMH,” Hale said.
