At the Walmart Recycling Center, magazines can be mixed with newspapers to be recycled. Can you also put magazines with the other newspaper receptacles around town, or just keep them separate?
Magazines and newspapers can be mixed or kept separate depending on the labeling of the bins. If the bins are labeled “Mixed Paper,” then magazines, newspapers, glossy paper, white paper, etc., can all be mixed together. However, if the bins are specifically labeled “Newspaper,” magazines should not be mixed.
Different businesses around town have different bins depending on the space and the bins they request. The difference in mixing newspapers and magazines versus not mixing comes down to the quality of the recycled product. Mixed bins have a lower quality.
