Question

I thought Congress passed a law that television commercials wouldn’t be louder than the regular program. When does it take effect?

Answer

The bill introduced by Rep. Anna G. Eshoo, D-Calif., is not yet law. The House by a voice vote on Dec. 15 passed the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act, H.R. 1084. The bill has been sent to the Senate and was referred to the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
