I noticed the KU Store has a trailer at games with an Illinois license plate. Don’t they have to register in Kansas?
Brett Shelton is the merchandise manager for the KU Store’s retail store and game day operations. He works for the contractor, Sports Avenue, of Rock Island, Ill.
He said the small trailer similar to a horse trailer used to house merchandise at football games and other athletic events does have an Illinois license plate, though the company plans to get it registered in Kansas.
The company has had the trailer since the 2009 football season, and it is housed in Kansas, he said. When asked how long the company had been working to get the trailer registered, Shelton referred additional questions to the company’s chief financial officer, who did not return phone calls seeking comment.
