Question

Can the homeless still camp out and live along the river, as they have before?

Answer

According to Mark Hecker, Lawrence Parks and Recreation superintendent, camping is not permitted in city parks, which includes much of the land on both sides of the Kansas River. Any activity after park hours — 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. — is not permitted without a permit from the city.
