Question

I remember when the city previously said they believed there would be enough federal funds to not only build the Burroughs Creek Trail but also to pave the existing hike and bike trail that is south of Haskell. Is that still the case?

Answer

No. City Manager David Corliss recently said the city was informed the federal stimulus dollars can’t be used to pave the trail south of Haskell because that was not part of the original grant application submitted by the city. The city came up with the paving idea after bids for the Burroughs Creek Trail project came in lower than expected. Corliss said the city will be alert for other opportunities to pave the trail in the future.
