Question

The other day we drove by the sunflower farm northeast of Lawrence, and we didn’t see any sunflowers. Will there be any on the farm this year?

Answer

Ted Grinter, owner of Grinter Farms in Leavenworth County, says the heads of the sunflowers are starting to come out, but they’re not putting out their flowers yet. He estimates they’ll bloom around the middle of the last week of August. He also recommends checking krisgrinter.blogspot.com for updates on how the flowers are faring.
There will be a donation box on the property, which is a 40-acre lot between Lawrence and Tonganoxie on U.S. Highway 24-40.
