When a neighborhood is zoned residential single-family, what protects the homeowners in the area from someone setting up a medical practice in what was previously a single-family home?


City Manager Mike Wildgen said current zoning regulations allowed single-family properties to be used for some types of medical offices.

For example, psychologists or psychiatrists can use their homes as offices if they meet certain requirements, including having no other employees working there. In those cases, the city's zoning code does not require neighbors to be notified.

Other types of medical offices that have employees and do not qualify as home occupations are required to go through the rezoning process.
