Should the city allow all bars and restaurants to add patio seating in order to accommodate smokers?

Asked at Massachusetts Street on July 17, 2004

“In most cases yes, unless the city has some important reason why it would infringe upon other people's space.”

“Yeah, I think they should. That way it gives smokers a little area where they could still enjoy a little entertainment.”

“Yes, I do. I think it is the right of the individual whether to smoke or not. I don't think the commissioners should be dictating to people.”

“Yes. I think if they're not going to allow people to smoke inside, they should give owners the opportunity to maintain their business by allowing it outside. And they should allow dogs, too.”
