Letter to the editor: ArtWalk clarification

To the editor:

I am writing in response to the recent front page headline “City hopes its art walk can become a regional spectacle” to clarify a misconception. Final Fridays is a great local event supporting many art forms in our rich cultural community. It is not, however, to be confused with the Annual Lawrence ArtWalk, which is a great venue specifically for Douglas County visual artists only.

For the last 22 years The Lawrence ArtWalk was held on the last weekend in October. When Final Fridays came about, the public became confused about the differences in the two events. This year, to further distinguish The Lawrence ArtWalk from Final Fridays, the event dates have been moved to the second weekend in October — the 12th, 13th, and 14th — and will continue to be on the second weekend in October in coming years.

The Lawrence ArtWalk is happy to support and encourage all public events occurring for the artists in our area with the hope that the community will recognize the differences in the events and be supportive of all.

Whoa!! Taking off the baby gloves! I like your style, Anne.

"Final Fridays is a great local event supporting many art forms in our rich cultural community. It is not, however, to be confused with the Annual Lawrence ArtWalk"

Best way to settle this, artistically speaking. Refer to the "Jets v. Sharks". Who gets to play Tony and Maria? Serious stuff here, Anne. "Got a rocket, in my pocket - BE COOL BOYS! Real cool". Make sure all Law enforcement is there.

If the “City hopes its art walk can become a regional spectacle” what better way?? Maybe a dance off would make you happy? BTW - This city, a small town in the Midwest, nothing more, nothing less, has already become an embarrassing "regional spectacle".

Honestly, Anne. Who really cares about this drivel of which you speak? Thanks for the laugh.

Bill is obviously an art hater. And Ms. Egitto was just trying to clarify the difference between the 2 events. And if you hate Lawrence so much, please feel free never to come here, and if you live here, feel free to move.

I do not usually comment. However, I find it so sad that Bill had to attack her Letter to the Editor. She was simply clarifying information for the public. Why even comment, except to be mean and hateful.
