Second lawsuit in less than a month filed against KU Hospital

For the second time in less than a month, a Kansas University Hospital employee has filed a federal lawsuit against the hospital, alleging employee discrimination.

LaTasha M. Starr, of Blue Springs, Mo., filed a lawsuit Thursday, alleging a wide variety of discriminatory practices during her employment at the hospital between May 2011 and February 2012.

The suit alleges a supervisor discriminated against her based on race, sex and disability, and seeks $3.5 million in damages.

The supervisor named in the lawsuit, who is the alleged perpetrator of the discrimination, was the same person named in a Dec. 27 discrimination lawsuit filed against the hospital.

It’s unclear what position Starr held at the hospital.

A spokeswoman for KU Hospital declined comment, citing the pending lawsuit.
