Downtown Lawrence Holiday Lighting Ceremony & Santa Rescue

Friday, Nov. 24, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Description

Join us in Downtown Lawrence where the holiday comes alive with the Santa Rescue and Holiday Lighting Ceremony! What other city combines fire trucks, twinkling lights, Christmas carols and Santa on the rooftop? The evening begins at 5:30pm with live musical entertainment for the whole family on the US Bank Plaza at 9th & Mass. Join us along with event MCHank Booth for live musical performances by the Lawrence High School (Kansas) Chorale, Liberty Memorial Central Middle School Choir, Lawrence Arts Center cast of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" and a special appearance by Theatre Lawrence's Beauty & the Beast and make a kids' craft with First Christian Church!

Mayor Soden will kick off the holiday season by turning on our world class holiday lights and then it's time for a visit from the big man himself. At 6:15pm Santa will appear on the rooftop of Weaver’s Department Store, only to be rescued by a ladder truck, operated by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical. Once Santa is safely on the ground, he’ll be available to take gift requests from the kids.
