Couples announcements for January 2017




Norman and Dar­lene Musick, Eudora will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Jan.12. They celebrated earlier over the holidays with a family gathering.They will be taking a trip to Las Vegas in the spring. Norman Musick and Darlene Workman were married January 12, 1957 at Plymouth Congrega­tional Church in Lawrence, Ks. Their children are Candace Dardis, Ash­burn ,VA, Jeanette Born and Susan Carnagie, both of Eudora. They have seven grandchil­dren and eight great-grandchildren.


Spencer and Flanders

Brenda and Duane Spencer of Fontana, KS announce the engage­ment of their daughter, Miranda Spencer to Kevin Flanders the son of Karen and Bruce Flanders of Lawrence, KS. The future bride graduated from John­ son County Community College with an Associ­ ate's of Applied Science in Horticulture Science. She is employed at Designs by Sharon. The future groom graduated from Empor­ia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He is em­ ployed at Pizza Ranch. The couple plans to be married April 8, 2017, at Messiah Luther­an Church in Emporia, KS.



Dr. and Mrs. Phillip Godwin celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on December 23rd with a holiday weekend of festivities with their family. Phil and Phoebe were married in the Wesley Hospit­ al Chapel, Wichita, Kansas on December 23, 1951. They were the second couple to be married in this beautiful new chapel. Phoebe had just com­pleted her RN degree that September from Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita. Phil was a first-year student at the Univ of KS School of Medicine, which was taught on the Lawrence campus at that time. The couple is blessed with three children, their spouses, and grandchildren: Greg (Nora) of Keokuk, Iowa and their son Trent; Amy (Mark) Wulfemeyer of Leawood, KS and their daughter Lily; and Andrew (Cecilia) Godwin of Leawood, KS and their daugh­ter Eryn. Phil and Phoebe have been residents of Lawrence, KS since May of 1956. Phil began his medic­al practice with Drs. Jones, Manahan and Mitchell and contin­ued practicing with several other medical groups until his re­tirement in May of 1999. Both Phil and Phoebe have been actively involved with numerous or­ganizations in the Lawrence com­munity and have en­joyed traveling the world together.



Congratulations Bud and Sheryl Jacobs on celebrating such a milestone achievement; 50 years of our dad watching our mom's purse! Thanks for bringing us along on your journey. We love you! Robert, Jen, & David


Flanagan and Neilson

Mr. and Mrs. Matt Ireland and the late Dan C. Flanagan, of Raytown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Caitlin Phyllis Flanagan, to Kade Robert Neilson, son of Ron and Connie Neilson of Lyndon, Kansas. Ms. Flanagan, is a project assistant at Burns and McDonnell in Kansas City. Mr. Kade Neilson gradu­ated with honors from Hutchison Community College in the Fire Sci­ence program, and works at Integrity Loc­ating Services, in Raleigh, North Caro­lina. An April wedding is planned.



Bill & Sandra Gur­ley will celebrate their 59th wedding an­niversary Tuesday, January 31, 2017. They were married January 31, 1958 in Lawrence, Kansas.



Howard and Carol Harris were married on January 28th 1967. In­troduced by a mutual friend they quickly be­ came inseparable. To­gether, they show, their love for family, friends and God in all they do, and they never meet a stranger. Their lives have touched many. With love, we salute and honor the example that you live, as well as, your unconditional love for each other and all those around you. Happy Anniversary!
