Couples announcements for June 2016



Rowden and Rogers

Elizabeth Ann Rowden and Jennifer Elizabeth Rogers were married on April 2, at The Writing Barn in Austin, Texas with Reverend Carol Jones presiding. Parents of the brides are Ray and Deb Rowden, Lawrence and Robert and Jacqui Rogers, Crescent, OK, and Myra Williams of Oklahoma City, OK. Betsy’s grandparents are Walt and Lou Gehlbach, Lenexa, KS. The bridal party included Betsy’s sister Kate Kuzmyak, Jen’s daughters Emma and Mari Bigheart, Kelsey Moncrief and Traci Gentile. Betsy is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned her bachelor of science in anthropology at Kansas State University in 2006. Jennifer earned her master of library science from Texas Woman’s University in 2010. They reside in Austin where Betsy works for Union Metrics and Jen is the PR supervisor for the Westbank Community Library District.



Bill and Linda McCoy will be celebrating their 50th anniversary, June 11, 2016. They were married June 18, 1966 in Lawrence, Ks. A celebration is planned for friends and family at Blue Jacket Park, 12th & Cedar, Eudora, Ks. Their children and grandchildren will be hosting the party.



Larry & Carol Scott will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary with an open house from 2¬4pm on June 12, 2016 at the Eudora Rec Center. Larry & Carol were married May 24th 1966 in Pittsburgh, KS.


Doyle and Luetzow

Kevin Doyle and Jana White, of Lawrence, are quite pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Emily Claire Doyle to Jacob Edward Luetzow, son of Mark and Nancy Luetzow of Kirkwood, MO. Emily is a 2009 graduate of Lawrence High School. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors of Sci­ ence in Economics. Jac­ ob is a 2010 graduate of Kirkwood High School. He graduated cum laude from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Nuclear Engineering. The couple moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho in August 2015 for Jacob's job as a Nuclear Critic­ ality Safety Engineer with Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corpora­ tion. Emily works as a Title I paraprofessional at Linden Park Ele­ mentary in Idaho Falls. They are absolutely loving being so close to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks!! A July 2016 wedding in Lawrence is planned.



Cheryl (Schmidtberger) and Lloyd Hammerschmidt were married in The Basilica of St. Fidelis Church in Victoria, Kansas, on April 30, 1966. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a Mass, dinner, and dance on April 30th, 2016, at Corpus Christi Church, in Lawrence, with family and friends. The event was hosted by their children Dawn Hill, Shane, and Dain (Katie) Hammerschmidt. They are the proud Grandparents of nine Grandchildren and two Great-¬Grandchildren.



Jim and Jean Stokes of Lawrence will celeb­ rate their 70th Wedding Anniversary on 29 June 2016. They were mar­ried in Concord, Mass at the First Parish Church in 1946 follow­ing Jim’s Navy service in the Pacific. After Jim graduated from N.C. State University with an Engineering degree they moved to Clinton, Iowa, where Jim worked in the cello­phane and Clysar oper­ations for DuPont. They were active mem­bers of the First Presbyterian Church while living in Clinton. Jim was a member of the Masons during their time in Clinton. In 1965 they moved to Lawrence when Jim was transferred to the DuPont cellophane plant in Tecumseh. Jean was a stay at home mother raising two children Jim III (Jackie) of Sunset Beach, NC and Susan Koelling of Wichita, KS. Jim and Jean were involved in their community by previously serving on the Lawrence Hospital Endowment board and the Auxiliary, respect­ively. Jean is also a member of the Lawrence PEO and de­livered Meals on Wheels for many years. Jim served a number of years on the Buildings and Grounds commit­ tee at the First Presby­ terian Church where they have been mem­ bers since 1965. They enjoyed many years of golf as members of the Clinton Country Club and Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence. They are looking forward to fam­ ily dinner celebration with their children, grandchildren (Lesli Storm (Matt) of Geneseo, Illinois, Adam Stokes (Andrea) of Skokie, Illinois, Heath­ er Lewis (Brian) of Wichita, Kansas and Jason Koelling of Wichita, Kansas) and great grandchildren (Bethany Storm of Dubuque, Iowa, Dana Storm of Geneseo, Illinois, Nicholas Stokes of Herrin, Illinois, Alex and Olivia Lewis of Wichita, Kan­ sas, Keelan and William Stokes of Skokie, Illinois).


Finger and Robbs

Mark and Jonnie Finger, Lawrence, and Ken and Jill Robbs, Baldwin City, announce the engagement of their children, Kristen Faith Finger and John Joseph Robbs. John is a 2011 graduate of Baldwin High School and a 2015 graduate of Baker Uni­versity with a major in art history and minors in business and music (percussion performance). He is employed at Locus, a K­12 online enrollment software company as the ac­ count's manager. Kristen is a 2013 gradu­ate of Veritas Christian School and is currently a senior at Baker Uni­ versity majoring in English literature and minoring in psycho­ logy. She is employed by the Baker libraries. The couple will be married on July 9 at Wellsville Baptist Church.
