Wedding

Evans and Smith

Dr. and Mrs. John Evans of Portland, Oregon and Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Jones of Vista, California are pleased to announce the marriage of their respective sons, John Evans and David Smith of Lawrence, Kansas. The couple married yesterday at Fort Mason in San Francsico, California. They were joined by their son and daughter, Dante and Jakiah Smith Evans. Dr. Evans presided over the wedding. John and David first met at UC Berkeley in 1986 as students. After graduating, they sought jobs with the National Park Service, where they have served since. John currently works as branch chief for the office of Security and Intelligence. The family is currently in the process of moving to Joshua Tree National Park where David will serve as superintendent. The couple look forward to seeing many of their Lawrence friends at the park in the coming years.

Pfannenstiel and Grover

Olivia Pfannenstiel and Benjamin Grover announce their engagement along with their parents. The bride-elect is the daughter of Keith and Paulette Pfannenstiel of Lawrence. The prospective groom is the son of Karl and Catherine Grover of Pawnee Rock. The bride-elect is a graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Science degrees in Accounting from the University of Kansas. She is a CPA and employed as a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst at Ascend Learning in Leawood. The prospective groom is a graduate of Great Bend High School. He earned his Associate of Science degree from Barton Community College, and both his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Science degrees in Geography and Environmental Sciences from Fort Hays State University. He is employed as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist at George Butler Associates, Inc. in Lenexa. The wedding is planned for November 1, 2014 in Lawrence.

Donald G. and Roberta J McDow of Lawrence, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on September 9, 2014. They were married in 1949 at Westport Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO. They had 3 children; Richard Ross McDow (now deceased), Suzanne & David Nutt of Lawrence, Deborah & Mark Miller of Kansas City, MO, 5 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren.

Daggett and Albers

Hailey Daggett and Marc Albers were married April 11, 2014 in an outdoor wedding at The Tapestry in Fort Collins, Colorado. The weather was perfect! The reception following was also at The Tapestry. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Ray Crawford. Hailey is the daughter of David and Gay Daggett of Fort Collins and Marc is the son of Tom and Julie Albers of Lawrence. Hailey and Marc are both graduates of Emporia State University. Marc is employed by Huron Consulting out of Chicago and Hailey is employed with New Horizons of Kansas City, MO. They currently reside in Overland Park, KS. Hailey’s maid of honor was her sister Hannah Daggett. Jessica Hillsley, Erica Durler, Andie Albers (Marc’s sister in law) and Bethany Thomas were Hailey’s brides maids. Marc’s best man was Nick Madl. Tyler Knight, Brett Sims, Jacob and Jonathan Albers (Marc’s brothers), Brendan Halpin and Nolan Kellerman were part of wedding party.

Lynds

Merv and Betty Lynds celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception on August 23, 2014 at Lawrence Wesleyan Church in Lawrence. They were married Augsut 22, 1964 in Frankfort, KS. They have two sons, Andrew (Heather) grandson Ethan and Jarrod (Janelle) Lynds.

Rich and Ginny Hedges were married on September 6, 1969 in Lawrence, KS. Rich worked in the auto parts business, then moved on to a career in the trucking industry. He currently works at Old Dominion Freight Line. Ginny worked primarily in public schools as a para educator for many years. She and Rich also owned Big Guy’s Toy Trucks in the 1990s. They have one daughter, Julie Lowrance (Garry), of Lawrence, KS. The couple will celebrate their 45th anniversary privately with an evening in Kansas City.
