Ken & Marilyn Hubbard, rural Baldwin, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, Sunday, Nov. 2nd, 2014. Ken & Marilyn were married Nov. 2nd, 1974 at Washington Creek Church of the Brethren, Lawrence, KS. Ken was a bachelor dairyman, 4-H leader, Extension Council past president, award winner in Douglas Co. Soil Conservation. Marilyn, a widow of eight years, was teaching elementary music in Lawrence when they met at a 4-H meeting. Once Ken spotted the beautiful widow there was no turning back! They share four children, Barbara Hougland, husband Fred, Skiatook, OK, David Ausherman, wife Jill, Colleyville, TX, Linda Swanson, husband Scott, Baldwin and Bruce Ausherman, wife Shelley, Baldwin, KS. They are blessed with 10 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. Reception will be held Nov. 2nd, 2p-4p at Worden United Methodist Church, Baldwin City. The couple request your presence, but no gifts.
Martin and Brown
Kahla Martin and Ben Brown were married July 19th at Danforth Chapel on KU campus. The reception followed at the Carnegie Building in Lawrence. Kahla is the daughter of Kelly and Allison Martin of Lawrence. Ben is the son of Paul and Debra Brown of Overland Park. Kahla graduated from KU with a degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is employed at Oskaloosa Elementary as a 4th grade teacher.Ben graduated from Emporia State with degrees in Ceramics and Sculpture. He is employed in the Ceramics Lab at Johnson County Community College. Kahla’s attendants were her sister, Aftan Jameson, her brother, Taylor Martin, and friends Courtney Nichols and Kristin Burhenn. Ben’s attendants were his brothers, David Brown, Jake Brown, and Pete Brown, and friend Paul Woods. The couple resides in Lawrence.
