May and Bassett

Ernest May, Tonganoxie, and Cecilia Jecha May, Lawrence, are please to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca May to Brent Bassett, son of Bob and Lisa Bassett, Cypress, TX. Rebecca is a 2002 Lawrence High School graduate. She received her B.S. in Sports Medicine from John Brown University and her M.Ed. in Exercise Science from University of Kansas. She is currently employed at Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX as an Exercise Physiologist. Brent is a 2002 graduate of Cypress-Fairbanks High School, Cypress, TX. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a M.E. in Civil Engineering with specialization in Public Works from Texas A&M University. He is employed as Project Manager for KSA Engineers, Austin, TX. The couple plan a March 8, 2014 wedding at Heritage House in Dripping Springs, TX.

Rutledge and Scott

Phil and Michele Rutledge of Lawrence are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Leah Marie Rutledge, to Ryan James Scott, son of Michael and Gail Scott of Topeka. The couple were engaged June 22, 2013. Leah is a 2009 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 2013 graduate of K-State. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Therapy. Leah is currently employed at Kansas Forest Service in Manhattan. Ryan is a 2011 graduate of Topeka West High School. He is currently working toward a dual degree in Physics and Secondary Education at K-State. They are planning a June wedding in Berryton, Kansas.

Schriner and Sneegas

Dan Schriner and Sally Hare-Schriner of Lawrence are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Alexandra Marie Schriner to Jason Michael Sneegas, son of Randy and Ruth Anne Sneegas, grandson of Ralph and Mary Anne King and Don Sneegas, all of Lawrence. Alexandra’s grandparents, Jerry and Liz Hare are also of Lawrence. Alex is a 2008 graduate of Lawrence Free State High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Kansas. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History of Art and a minor in Business. Alex currently is Merchandizing Team Lead for Urban Outfitters in Kansas City, MO. Jason also is a 2008 graduate of Lawrence Free State High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Kansas. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He currently works at the Kansas City, Kansas office of Professional Service Industries as a Geotechnical Engineer. Alex and Jason live in Mission, KS and are planning a November 15, 2014 wedding in Lawrence.

Self and Browning

Bill and Cindy Self are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren, to Hayden Browning, son of Karin and Bart Browning of Columbus, Ohio. Lauren graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Elementary Education and now works for the Christian ministry Young Life in Richardson, Texas. Hayden graduated from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio with a degree in Christian Education and now works as a music pastor at Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas. The wedding is planned for late summer in Kansas City.

Brosseit and Davidson

Gregg Davidson and Tracy Brosseit, both of Lawrence, were married Dec. 12, 2013, in St. Lucia. The groom is a native of Crete, NE, and is a graduate of the University of Nebraska. For the past six years, he has owned Mesler Roofing, Siding, and Windows in Lawrence. The bride has been enployed for the past six years by the LMH Endowment Association, where she ia a development specialist.

Schuster and Lorg

Emily Dyanne Schuster and Joshua Thomas Lorg were united in marriage December 06, 2013 at the Hotel Phillips, Downtown Kansas City by Pastor Nathan Miller of Christ Community Church, Olathe Campus. The bride is the daughter of Paul and Sue Schuster, Lawrence. She is the granddaughter of Ruby Schuster and the late Paul Schuster, Garnett and the late Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Lilly of Ottawa. The groom is the son of John and Lori Lorg, Olathe. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Chambliss, Overland Park and Leo Lorg, of Wichita. Given in marriage by her parents, she was escorted by her father, Paul Schuster to begin the formal early evening ceremony and attended by Matron of Honor Katie Havelka of Springfield, MO, friend of the bride. Additional bridesmaids included Jamie Evans, Lenexa, KS, and Jill Miller, Olathe, KS friends of the bride. Wedding attendants to the bride included Beth Blankers, Lincoln, NE and Bethany Nesbitt, Prairie Village, also friends of the bride. Serving as Best Man was Bryan Haeusser of St. Louis, MO, friend of the groom. Groomsmen included John Ross Lorg, brother of the groom, and Jordan Hilgers, Denver, CO, friend of the groom. Madison Strawder-Coursen of Burlington, niece of the bride, lit candles in memory of grandparents. Natalie Strawder, Burlington, and Aurora Wilhelm, Edwardsville, IL, both nieces to the bride tossed rose petals from white baskets ahead of the bride. They were followed by ring bearers Luke and Zachary Nielsen, Mt. Vernon WA, nephews of the groom. Serving as ushers were Jeremy Aber, Murfreesboro, TN, brother-in-law to the bride, Jeff Givens, Colorado Springs, CO, Nick Jerkovich, Olathe, and Bill Steinke, Lake Lotawana, MO, all friends of the groom. Scripture was read by Amy Harris-Aber, sister of the bride. Miranda Wilhelm, sister of the bride, and Katie Strawder-Schuster, sister-in-law of the bride, and Michelle Nielsen, sister of the groom, Wichita, KS assisted with the children in the bridal party. The bride wore a dress fashioned by Maggie Sottero, Bronwyn consisting of a lace and tulle slim line gown with V-neckline and cap-sleeves, featuring a separate light gold slip gown of Vogue satin. The open back was finished with a row of satin covered buttons over a zipper closure. Her bridal bouquet was made from hydrangea and light pink spray rose stem with Vendela roses and Queen Anne’s lace. A pearl necklace was woven through the bouquet in remembrance of the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Doris Lilly. She also wore her mothers‘ pearls as a bracelet. A flower barrette in her hair was fashioned by Amy Chambliss-Keith, aunt of the groom. The reception following the ceremony featured toasts to the bride and groom by their fathers as well as the Matron of Honor and Best Man. Both the reception and dance that followed were held at the Hotel Phillips. John Canterbury of Merriam, KS provided music for the evening. Photographer for the evening was Becki Graham of Photographybybecki. The bride is a graduate of Larned High School, Larned, KS and the University of Kansas, Lawrence, with a degree in Marketing and International Business. She currently works as office manager at Clinical Psychology Practice LLC in Prairie Village. The groom is a graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School of Overland Park and the University of Kansas School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Lawrence, KS. He is currently employed as the Microsoft Dynamic Project Lead of ATK, formerly Bushnell, of Overland Park. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in San Juan, Puerto Rico and will make their home in Olathe.
