Charles “Okie” and Jean Snedeger will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Charles Ervin Snedeger and Bonnie Jean Chapman were married August 10, 1944, in Vallejo, California. He had a 72-hour pass before shipping out for overseas duty. They didn’t see each other again for a year and a half. The couple met while Okie was in the U.S. Navy attending Kansas University. After World War II, they settled in Lawrence. They owned and operated Snedeger’s Coin Laundry for 22 years. Okie retired from the Kansas Public Service Gas Company in 1990. Jean has published many family genealogy books. The couple have two daughters, Sonnie Kemberling (Jerry) and Wendy Dalquest (Ron), all of Lawrence, a son, Charles (Sarah) Baldwin City; eight grandchildren: Steven, Amy, Jeff, Kevin, Brian, Beth, Abe and Ashley; and eight great-grandchildren: Dade, Avery, Abby, Dylan, Kaden, Zarek, Keelin and Haley. Pockrandt and Aldridge
Mr. and Mrs. Gary and Cynthia Aldridge of Lawrence, Kansas are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Toby Aldridge to Bryanna Pockrandt. Bryanna is the daughter of Colonel Barry and Mrs. Deborah Pockrandt of Manhattan, Kansas. A wedding is planned to be held on October 11, 2014.
Hawley and Craig
Brenna Hawley and Dennis Craig are pleased to announce their engagement. Brenna is the daughter of Kevin and Cathie Hawley, Waco, Texas, and Helen Hofmeister Hawley, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dennis is the son of Mike and Julie Craig, Baldwin City. Brenna works as a web consultant at DEG Digital in Overland Park. She is a 2006 graduate of Salina High School Central and earned separate degrees in both journalism and political science from the University of Kansas. Dennis is a 2003 graduate of Baldwin City High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in theatre with a concentration in voice from Kansas State University. He works on the family farm and is active in the local theatre community. A March 2015 wedding is planned in Baldwin City.
Hunter and Schweim
John and Leslie Hunter of Lawrence are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Paige Elizabeth, to Thomas Joel (TJ) Schweim, son of Rick Schweim of Eagle River, Alaska, and Ann Holder of Asheville, North Carolina. Paige is a 2013 graduate of the University of Kansas with a BGS in film and minor in applied behavioral science. She is currently the office manager for Keys of Joy! Piano Studio in Lawrence. TJ is a 2010 graduate of College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri with a BS in computer information science. He is a software engineer with RCI Safety in Kansas City, Missouri. A late summer wedding will be held at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. The couple will make their home in Kansas City, Missouri.
