Easley

John T. and Mary Ann Easley, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner held on Oct. 12. They were married Oct. 17, 1953 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kansas City, Mo. John was a civil engineer professor at the University of Kansas. Mary Ann worked for Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine in Lawrence. The couple have six children, John Patrick and Mary T., Chesterfield, Mo., Dan and Tami Easley, Dave Easley, Tim Easley, Mary Beth and Juan Diaz, and Matt and Carrie Easley, all of Lawrence, Ks.; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.

Greg & Sue (Grob) Elder were married on October 19, 1973 at St.John’s Church in Lawrence. They moved to and currently reside in Newton, Ks . Greg is a builder with GR Elder Construction and Sue works for the Newton School District. Melin

Dr. Bruce and Christine Melin, of Garden City, Kansas announce the marriage of their son, Alexander Conrad Melin, of Lawrence, Kansas to Svetlana Akhtyamovna Akhmerova. of Ufa, Russia. She is the daughter of Akhtyam Khasanovich Akhermov and Venera Minetdinovna Akhmerova of Kirgiz-Miyaki, Bashkortostan, Russia. The 12:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony took place on August 24, 2013 at the Russian Drama Theater in Ufa, Russia. A reception and dance were held after the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents, at the AMAKS hotel in Ufa. The groom’s parents and sister and brother-in-law attended the ceremony in Russia. The bride is a graduate of the mathematics faculty of Bashkortostan State University in Ufa, Russia with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. She is employed as an engineer-programmer at Iska-Pro in Ufa, Russia. The groom is a graduate of the University of Kansas, with a bachelor’s degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures, and a master’s degree in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies. He is currently in his final year of study at the University of Kansas School of Law.

Nicole Lynn Hunter, Lawrence, Kansas and Paul David Jones, San Diego, California, were married August 3, 2013, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence, Kansas, with Fr. Mick Mulvany officiating. The bride is the daughter of Bryan and Phyllis Hunter of Lawrence, Kansas. The groom is the son of Alissa Jones; Warrenton, Virginia and Joseph Jones; Cincinnati, Ohio. Maid of Honor was Erica Hunter, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Michelle Rubano, sister of the groom; Brittany Angst, Tina Hawkins, Ally Hynick, Melissa Krumm, Erin Olson, Marie Payne, Rachelle Saathoff. Junior Bridesmaid was Ashley Jones, daughter of the groom. Best man was Adam Griffiths. Groomsmen were Tom Bacon, Bryan Cargill, Jacob Coleman, Dustin Kreger, Bruce Lawlor, Sean Roberts, Johnny Rathbun and Anthony Rubano. Ushers were Zach Coleman, Adam Payne, Martin Vertacnik, Noah Winter, and Nick Walters. Scripture readers were Michelle Regan and Lesley Belt. The guest book was attended by Renae Walters. A reception was held at Abe & Jake’s Landing. The bride is the granddaughter of Sam and Segrid Salmon of Tucson, Arizona, and Jean Otney of Lawrence, Kansas. She is a 2004 graduate of Lawrence High School, earned a Bachelor in Elementary Education from Kansas State University in 2010, and currently teaches at Broken Arrow Elementary School in Lawrence. Paul is a 2000 graduate of Valhalla High School and enlisted in the Army in 2000. He has served 3 tours in Iraq and 2 tours in Afghanistan. Paul currently works for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Topeka, Kansas as a Human Resources Specialist. The couple reside in Lawrence.
