Kyle and Vicki Stanwix of Lawrence are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelby Lynne Stanwix, to Jayce Aaron Rymer, son of Lance and Patty Rymer, Basehor, and Frank and Modesty Montemayor, Appleton, MN. Shelby is a 2011 graduate of Lawrence High School and is currently employed with Truity Credit Union in Lawrence. Jayce is a 2011 graduate of Basehor-Linwood High School and is employed with Amarr Garage Doors in Lawrence. A January 25th, 2014 wedding is planned at the Southside Church of Christ in Lawrence.

Veronica Mohr and Blair Bahret were united in marriage on Saturday, October 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence with Reverend Mitch Todd officiating. Veronica is the daughter of Rod and Susie Mohr, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Ernie and Penny Bahret, Lecompton. The matron of honor was Elizabeth Haire, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were sisters of the bride, Katherine Mohr and Christina Mohr. The best man was Dylan Bahret, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Matt Saile and Tyler Kring, friends of the groom. Flower girl was Courtney Goodman, niece of the groom; ring bearer was Logan Goodman, nephew of the groom. The candle lighters were Sarah Krause and Mandy Irizarry, sisters of the groom. Ushers were Adam Krause and William Irizarry, brother-in-laws of the groom. The bride is a 2007 graduate of Free State High School and a 2012 graduate of Ottawa University with a degree in Business Administration. The groom is a 2006 graduate of Perry Lecompton High School. The couple resides in Lawrence.

Allison Sollars and John Thompson II were married on June 22nd, 2013 at Union Station in Kansas City, MO with Reverend Peter Luckey officiating. Allison is the daughter of Gary and Connie Sollars, Lawrence, and the granddaughter of Carol Mangun, Lenexa. John is the son of John Thompson, Leavenworth, and Laurie and Larry Colahan, Lenexa. Laura Hubert was the Maid of Honor and Tanner Klingzell was the Best Man. Bridesmaids were Sarah Davis and Laurel Sharpe. Groomsmen were Justin Morgan and Danny Tokar. Ushers were Chris Bullard, Ward Johnston, Matt Keller, and Drew Sollars. Flower girl was Julia Sollars and ring bearers were Charlie and Jack Bullard and Fred Sollars. Readers were Mali Bullard and Tina Sollars. Music was provided by the Innocenti String Quartet and Morgan Robertson, soloist. Marilyn and Ed Johnston and Petrika Peters served as attendants to the guest book and gifts. The bride graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in Accounting and Business Administration and an MBA in Finance from the University of San Diego. She is employed as a financial analyst by Gilmore & Bell, P.C. in Kansas City. The groom graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Finance and a JD from the University of Kansas School of Law. He is employed by Kennedy, Berkley, Yarnevich & Williamson in Kansas City. The couple resides in Leawood, KS.
Richard and Helen Perkins, Baldwin City, are celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary on December 14. They were married in Ottawa, KS in 1948. The family will have a celebration after Christmas at a local restaurant. They have three daughters, Sandra Breshears, Stella Clevenger and Sharon Samuels. Valerie is a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School. Valerie and Trevor are both graduates of Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO. Valerie graduated in 2009 and Trevor graduated in 2008, both with a B.A. in Journalism and Technical Communication. Valerie received her MBA in 2012 from the University of Denver - Daniels College of Business. Valerie is a Project Manager at Adventos Consulting in Denver and Trevor is an Account Manager at Apex Systems in Denver. Their wedding will be held on June 28, 2014 in Keystone, CO.
Smith, Jr. and Smith
Glee S. Smith, Jr. and Geraldine Buhler Smith recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence on December 14, 1943. Both are graduates of the University of Kansas. The first two years of their married life were spent in various Army Air Corps bases in Texas, Massachusetts and Louisiana, where Glee was a navigation instructor. Following service in the Army Air Corps, they returned to Lawrence where Smith received his J.D. from KU Law School. They moved to Larned, KS, where Glee practiced law first with Wildgen and Smith, and later with the Smith, Burnett and Larson Law Firm for a total of 48 years. Glee served in the State Senate for 16 years and on the Board of Regents for 8 years. He also served on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association and is a Lifetime Commissioner of the National Conference on Uniform State Laws. Both are ordained Elders and Deacons in the Presbyterian Church, and participated in many civic activities in the Larned area. The couple moved to Lawrence in 1991, where Glee became Of Counsel with the Barber Emerson Law Firm. They are active in the KU Alumni Association, the KU Law Society, as well as being Friends of the Dole Center, KU Libraries, the Lied Center and the KU Theater. Their children were in Lawrence for a celebration for their 70th anniversary. They are G. Sid Smith, III of Alexandria, VA; Dr. and Mrs. Steve Smith of Omaha, NE; and Drs. Susan and James Moeser of Chapel Hill, NC. They also have 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Eldon and Elaine Worthington were married December 26, 1953 in Perry, Kansas. They are graduates of Perry Rural High School. Their children and spouses are Michael and Lori Worthington, Linda and Pat Blosser, and Mitchell and Donna Worthington. They have 6 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. A celebration with family is planned.
Roger and Shirley Lemmons of Lawrence will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on Dec. 28th at the Lawrence Country Club. The couple were married in Lindsborg, Ks on Dec. 29, 1963. They have 2 children, son Todd of Claremore, OK, and daughter Janna and Mike Davis of Tonganoxie. Grandchildren are Kelsey and Brett Clifton, Jentry and Mattison Lemmons, Skyler and Logan Terry, and Halle and Abby Davis.
Lois (Nieman) Llewellyn and H.E., “Lew”, Llewellyn will celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary on December 26th. They met at Pittsburg State Teachers’ College, after graduating were married at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Nortonville and started their life together in Riverton, Kansas. After a few years in Holton, Kansas they moved to Lawrence in the summer of 1957 when Lew accepted a coaching and teaching position at Haskell. He served for 27 years at Haskell and continues to support the college through the Foundation. They raised five children – Beth, Sally, Herb, Amy and Matt – while continuing their careers as educators. Lois taught special needs children for 22 years in the Lawrence school system and then served as the first Executive Director of Trinity Community Services, now Trinity in Home Care. Together, the Llewellyns were awarded the Kiwanis Kansas Builder of Families Award in 1978. Since 1957 they have been active members of Immanuel Lutheran church, where they have faithfully centered their lives and focused their sense of mission and service to others. In their retirement they have enjoyed international and domestic travel, extensive community service, leadership in various church related governing boards, and traveling to family homes outside of Lawrence. They will enjoy their anniversary with their children, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Cao and Nowasell
Mr & Mrs Mark Nowasell, Tonganoxie, are proud to announce the engagement of their son, Alex Michael to Qiwei (Claire) Cao, daughter of AnPing Teng. Claire is originally from DaQing, China. She graduated from Qingdao Technological University. Upon arriving in the United States, she earned her Masters in Civil Engineering from UMKC and is currently a Phd student there. Alex is a 2007 graduate of Tonganoxie High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from The University of St. Mary in 2011, and will earn his Doctorate in Chiropractic in August of 2014. They will be wed on Jan 3rd 2014, at Alvamar Golf and Country Club in Lawrence, Ks. The family will travel to China next summer for a ceremony there, as well. Alex and Claire will reside in K C Mo.
Harper and Mock
Kevin and Becky Harper of Eudora are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Theresa Harper, to Bryce Mock, Son of Scott and Teresa Mock of Baldwin City. Theresa is a 2008 grad from Eudora High School and graduated from Ottawa University with a Bachelor of arts in Business Administration. She is currently employed at Baldwin State Bank. Bryce is a 2011 grad from Baldwin High School and received a welding technology certificate from North Central Technical College. He is currently employed with Venables Welding and Roustabout of Dumas, Texas. The couple is planning a June 28, 2014 wedding.

Their reception was held there immediately following the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mark and Cindy Naff, of Lawrence, KS. The groom is the son of Mike O’Hare and Sheila O’Hare, of Tonganoxie, KS. The matron of honor was Amanda Philhour, sister of the bride. Maid of honor was Sarah Naff, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Becky Squires, Heather Klotz, and Erin Smith. The best man was Clayton McDaniel, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Tom Newman, Richard Reischman and Chad Philhour. The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and University of Kansas Nursing School. She is employed as a registered nurse at Kansas University Medical Center. Hoeme and Sebelius
Mike and Kaye Lynne Hoeme of Topeka, Kansas are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Allison Brooke Hoeme, to John McCall Sebelius of Lawrence, Kansas. Allie is a graduate of the University of Kansas, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies. She is currently the marketing specialist for The World Company in Lawrence, Kansas. Hoeme’s mother is the owner and administrator of Brighton Place North, nursing facility for mental health in Topeka, Kansas, and her father works for the state of Kansas. John is the son of former Kansas Governor and current U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, and K. Gary Sebelius, a federal Magistrate Judge for the District of Kansas. Sebelius is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration and a graduate of the University of Kansas with a Masters in Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting. John is owner of Gillius, Inc. in Lawrence, Kansas and continues to exhibit his documentary films and paintings across the U.S. A May 2014 wedding in Lawrence, Kansas is planned.
Pope and Trowbridge
Mr. and Mrs. Steven Pope and Ms. Daneka Vann, of Lawrence, Kansas, announce the engagement of their daughter, Audrey Michelle Pope, to Justin Tyler Trowbridge, of Baldwin City, Kansas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lary Trowbridge and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Allen. The future bride received a bachelor of applied science degree in Human Services from Washburn University where she is currently pursuing a masters degree in clinical social work. She is employed at the Wyandot Mental Health Center in Kansas City, Kansas and coaches girls’ basketball and boys and girls track and field at Lawrence High School. Her fiancé is an Iraq war veteran, employed as a Corrections Officer in Douglas County. Also employed as a KSHAA basketball official, Justin is pursuing a career in law enforcement. The couple met in 2007 at a basketball game and live in Lawrence, Kansas. An August 2014 wedding is planned at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas.
