Patty Atkinson and Anthony Supancic were married June 2, 1962, at Central United Methodist Church in Lawrence. Anthony is now retired, after working most of his career in the glazing industry and starting Advance Glass & Mirror. Patty is retired from a bookkeeping and reception career. They have two sons, Tony IV and wife Nancy, Wichita, and Tom and wife Carol, Eudora. The couple request no gifts.

Nancy and Wayne Othick, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Nancy Kingsley and Wayne Othick were married June 1, 1962, in Oskaloosa. Nancy graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1962. Wayne attended Winchester High School. He was employed with the Lawrence Police Department for 27 years and has worked at the Federal Courthouse in Topeka for the past seven years as a court security officer. They were the owners of Wayne Othick Custom Buildings before retiring from the construction business. Nancy was active in the business and boarding horses. They have a daughter, Sonja Hart and husband Mike, Lawrence; a son, Darren and wife Meghan, Baldwin City; and three grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.

Sue and Earl Miller, Perry, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a open reception, hosted by their children and grandchildren, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 10 at Perry United Methodist Church. Sue Hurd and Earl Miller were married June 10, 1962 at Perry Methodist Church. Earl was a driver for Leonard Brothers Transport in Topeka and for many other truck companies in Topeka. He retired from ABF Freight Systems in 2000. Sue retired from the Perry-Lecompton School District in 2000. Nancy and Jerry Harper, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary later this summer with their children and grandchildren. Nancy Kellogg and Jerry Harper were married May 31, 1962, in Danforth Chapel at Kansas University. Nan and Jerry owned and operated two newspapers in Wichita and two bars in Lawrence. Jerry served in the Kansas legislature, and has practiced law in Lawrence and Topeka since 1979. Nan was a magazine editor in Washington, D.C., and a faculty member and administrator at KU and Bethany College in journalism and education. The couple volunteered to lead Western Civilization honors discussion classes, and directed and taught study-abroad and continuing-education courses for KU and for Johnson County Community College. They were active in the Oread Neighborhood Association, the Unitarian Fellowship, and their children’s activities. They have also lived in Brussels and Lindsborg. The couple have a son, John and wife Cheryl, Lecompton; a daughter, Carrie Wiklund and husband Bob, Houston; three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Johnson and Nancy Shockley, rural Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while camping with friends at Pomona Lake. Nancy Winston and Johnson Shockley were married May 19, 1962, at the First Baptist Church in Lawrence. The couple has lived in the Lawrence area their entire marriage. Johnson retired from Hallmark Cards Inc. in Lawrence as a machine modification specialist. Nancy is a retired sign language interpreter. They have two sons, William and wife Toni, rural Lawrence, and Randall, Eudora; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The couple’s anniversary was celebrated again with extended family at the annual Winston Family Reunion on May 26.

John and Marlene Dillard, Lawrence, will be celebrating their 50 years of marriage throughout the year with parties with family and friends, and a trip to Florence, Italy. Marlene Fisk and John Dillard were married June 16, 1962, at the Presbyterian Church in Caldwell. They began dating while attending Caldwell High School. John is a graduate of Kansas University. He retired as an assistant director of computing services from KU in 2006. Marlene is a graduate of Oklahoma State University. She retired as an English teacher from Basehor-Linwood High School in 1997. During their retirement, the couple has learned to play guitar and are active in the Lawrence music community. They have lived in Lawrence since 1991.

Mike is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Kansas University. He is the executive director of the Virginia Municipal League. Linda is retired. Donna and Robert Laushman, Lawrence, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with family this summer. They were married on June 25, 1947, in Austin, Minn. The couple met at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Donna was a homemaker, taught piano and marimba, and was a Audio Reader volunteer for 28 years. Bob was a district sales manager for the Selmer Band Instrument Co. in Elkhart, Ind. He played the trumpet for many years with the Lawrence City Band and the Jazzhaus Swing Band. They had four sons, a daughter, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
