Thede and Borland

Karen A. Thede and Dustin Borland, both of Lawrence, were married June 5, 2011, at Abe & Jake’s Landing, with Judge Paula Martin officiating. The bride is the daughter of Dennis Thede, Boone, Iowa, and the late Annette Thede. The groom is the son of Thomas Borland, Las Vegas, and Jana Montgomery, Lawrence. Maid of honor was Laura Kathman. Best man was Mason Pine. Bridesmaids were Sara Thede, Stephanie Jones and Traci Flores. Groomsmen were Sam Constance and Michael Auchard. Flower girl was Morgan Kathman. Ringbearers were Lane Kathman and Jordan Benter. A reception followed at Abe & Jake’s. The bride is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High School. She attended Kansas University and is employed at First State Bank & Trust in Lawrence. The groom is a 1999 graduate of Lawrence High. He earned a fine arts degree from KU and is employed at 23rd Street Brewery in Lawrence. The couple reside in Lawrence.


Tate and Whitney

Steven and Susan Tate, Lawrence, along with Edward and Sharon Whitney, Elmdale, announce the engagement of their children, Megan Tate and James Whitney, both of Manhattan. The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School. She earned a master’s degree in business from Emporia State University in 2008 and is employed by Kansas State University. The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Chase County High School in Cottonwood Falls. He graduated from Emporia State in 2007, earned a master’s degree in biology from K-State in 2010 and is studying for a doctoral degree at K-State. The couple plan a Nov. 12, 2011, wedding at All Faiths Chapel at K-State.


Evans and Stubbs

Wayne and Debbie Kesinger, Tonganoxie, along with Carol and Ron McDowell, Somers Point, N.J., and Sam Stubbs, of Florida, announce the engagement of their children, Stacy Evans and Sean Stubbs, both of Lawrence. The future bride is a graduate of Tonganoxie High School. She earned a degree from Pinnacle Career Institute in Lawrence, studied nursing at Anamarc College in El Paso, Texas and is an independent contractor with Summit Health, Principal Wellness Group and US Wellness. The future groom is graduate of Mainland Regional High School in New Jersey. He attended Midwestern Career College and is a driver for Cedar Rapids Steel Transport. The couple plan a summer 2012 wedding in Cape May, N.J.
