Paul and Winnie Getto, Lawrence, will celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary Sunday with their family. They were married Oct. 10, 1942, in Montgomery Ala., where Dr. Getto served four years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. The couple met in college when they both were working at the Eldridge Hotel. They have two sons, Paul R., and daughter-in-law, Kathy, Topeka, and Charles A., and daughter-in-law, Carol, Lenexa; a daughter, Jane Getto, and son-in-law, Stephen C. Allen, Lawrence; and five grandchildren.

Longaker

Harold and Jeanne Longaker, Lawrence, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Friday. The couple were married Oct. 7, 1954, in Warrensburg, Mo. Harold is a retired Topeka police officer and Jeanne is a retired Kansas University police officer. They have five children, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Alta and Richard Walter, Lecompton, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Sept. 24 in Lecompton. The couple were married Sept. 14, 1946, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Perry. Both are retired rural mail carriers. They have three sons, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Connie, rural Lawrence, Timothy, Arlington, Texas, and Brian, and daughter-in-law, Debbie, Lawrence; four daughters, Rosalee Neibarger, rural Lawrence, Marlene Swaggerty, and son-in-law, Bob, Perry, Jackie Gieseke, and son-in-law, Joe, Overland Park, and Monica Davidson, and son-in-law, Ken, Ottawa; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dale and Lahoma Wilson, Oksaloosa, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering on Oct. 15 at The Little Red Barn in Oskaloosa. Lohoma Kahle and Dale Wilson were married Oct. 14, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Council Grove. Their daughter and son-in-law will also be taking them on a trip to celebrate their anniversary in November to Branson, Mo. Dale retired from the Lawrence Paper Co. in 1992 and returned to full-time farming. He gave up farming this past year. Lahoma retired from the Oksaloosa School District in 1996, where she was a bus driver for 30 years. They both still enjoy living and working on their farm. The couple have a son, Jerry, and daughter-in-law, Lynda, Eudora; daughter, Reta Kitterman, and son-in-law, Larry, McLouth; daughter-in-law, Alana Wilson, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and a son, the late Larry Wilson. He earned bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and social thought and analysis from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002, a master’s degree in social welfare at Hunter College, New York City, in 2009 and is employed with Housing Conservation Coordinators, New York City. The couple plan a Nov. 14, 2011, wedding in upstate New York.

Gary and Julia Weeks, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 13 with family in Tulsa, Okla. They were married Sept. 3, 1961, in Missouri.
