Keith and Georgia Thomas, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. The couple were married March 11, 1951, in Pawnee Station. They have a son, Dwayne K., and daughter-in-law, Elisa, Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter, Debbie L. Harrison, and son-in-law Bruce, Louisville, Miss; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A 50th wedding anniversary for Sharon and David Sturdy of rural Vinland Valley will be given by their children from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at The Lodge in Baldwin City. A cake-cutting ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. The couple were married March 3, 1961, in Kansas City, Mo. They lived in Lawrence until moving to Vinland Valley in 2003. David graduated from Vinland High School and retired from Farmland Industries. Sharon graduated from Pleasanton High School and is retired from Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Alan and June Fisher, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Wednesday with a family dinner at their home. The couple were married March 9, 1951, in Lawrence. Alan earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University in 1949. He worked for Reuter Pipe Organ Company from 1949 to 1994, holding various management positions. He served in World War II, and is an active member of the American Legion Post No. 14 having held the office of past president. June worked for the Credit Bureau of Lawrence from 1942 to 1952. She is a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of Business and Professional Women. They have four sons, Michael, Eudora; Kevin, Lawrence; Brian and daughter-in-law Rita, Eudora; and Kent and daughter-in-law Stephanie, Lawrence; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Dutch and Murlin Heffner, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. The couple were married March 17, 1961, in Lawrence. Both are retired. Georgia Lorei and Edwin Lehman were married March 19, 1961, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ramona. Both retired in 2003 from Dillons in Lawrence. Kay and Jean Homolka, Eudora, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2700 Lawrence Ave. The couple were married March 22, 1961. Kay owned and operated K’s Tire Service in Lawrence until he retired in March 2008. They have a two daughters, Terri Humbert and Jeanna Linzer, both of Eudora; a son, Dennis, Topeka; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.

Virginia and Bobby Williams, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Virginia Lee Pittman and Bobby Anderson Williams were married March 21, 1951, in Memphis, Tenn. Bobby graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology and retired from E.I. DuPont in Tecumseh. Virginia graduated from Kansas University’s School of Education and retired from USD 497. She was a second grade teacher at Deerfield School. They have three daughters, Betsy Ann Russell, Ann Arbor, Mich., Janice Lynn Allet, Palm Springs, Calif. and Vickie Lee Hester, Murrieta, Calif.; a son, Mark, San Diego; and three grandchildren.
