Michelle Kissinger, Lawrence, and Dale Boone, Eudora, were married April 30, 2011, in Las Vegas with Marty Williams officiating. The bride is the daughter of Janet Kissinger, Shawnee, and the late Edmund Kissinger. The groom is the son of Charlene Boone, Kaiser, Mo., and the late Norman Boone. A reception will be given today in Linwood. The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She attended Johnson County Community College and Kansas University and is employed with Lawrence OB/Gyn Specialists. The groom is a graduate of Eudora High School and is employed with Kansas Gas. The couple reside in De Soto.
Chew and Wedermyer
Lindsay Chew, St. Louis, and Andrew Wedermyer, Baldwin City, were married May 21, 2011, at Osage National Golf Resort, Lake Ozarks, Mo., with the Rev. James Snyder officiating. The bride is the daughter of Frank Chew and Charlotte Lindsley, and Leslie and Ken Richardet, all of St. Louis. The groom is the son of Larry and Eunice Wedermyer, Lyndon, and Joy and Dee Poindexter, Baldwin City. Maids of honor were Danielle Apprill and Stacie Huey. Best man was Nathan Wedermyer. Bridesmaids were Kelli White, Jocelyn Hunt, Kim Mortenson, Lauren Davis, Tina Ortinau and Lauren Grieb. Groomsmen were Chad Poindexter, Mike Poindexter, Kevin Stultz, Linc Mortenson, Jeremy Hinze, Shad Hansmeier and Scott Huey. Ushers were Matthew Apprill and Justin Hinze. Ringbearer was Landon Apprill. Flower girls were Savannah Huey and Lacey Apprill. A reception followed at the resort. The bride earned a communication studies degree from Kansas University in 2005 and is employed in sales with RiverPoint Group, an IT consulting firm in Overland Park. The groom earned a business marketing degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and is a sales representative for RSC Equipment Rental in Lawrence. The couple reside in Baldwin City.
Vernon and Joan Christian, Baldwin City, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with close friends Stan and Cheryl Robinson with a joint reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 19 at The Lodge in Baldwin City. Vernon Christian and Joan Brubaker were married May 25, 1961, at Ives Chapel in Baldwin City. They have two sons, Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl, and Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Kim, all of Baldwin City; and 10 grandchildren.
Stan and Cheryl Robinson, Baldwin City, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with close friends Vernon and Joan Christian with a joint reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 19 at The Lodge in Baldwin City. Stan Robinson and Cheryl Taylor were married May 28, 1961, at the home of Roy C. and Althea Taylor. Stan worked as a contractor and was part owner of Robinson Construction. He has since then retired. Cheryl has worked for the city of Baldwin for 25 years and is still employed with the city. They have a son, Randy, Wellsville; a daughter, Shelley Ausherman, and son-in-law, Bruce, Baldwin City; and five grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.
Jardon and Jardon
Norma and Marvin Jardon, Baldwin City, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday with friends and family. Norma Brecheisen and Marvin Jardon were married June 17, 1951, at Clearfield United Methodist Church in Eudora. Marvin worked for his parents at Baldwin Junction until 1958, when he then took over the family business. He was appointed postmaster of Baldwin City in June 1968. He worked at the Baldwin Post Office until retiring in January 1991. Marvin is past state commander of the American Legion, past state Chef de Gare 40&8, and past state president League of Postmaster. He also is involved with Rotary, Santa Fe Trail Historical Society and the Baldwin Golf Association. Norma is a homemaker and enjoys cooking, quilting and golfing. They have two granddaughters, Sara Stotts, Boulder, Colo., and Amy Peters, Westerville, Ohio. Their daughter, Kathy Jardon, preceded them in death in 2006. The couple requests no gifts.
Marge and Phil Hoffman, Lawrence, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Holiday Inn Express, 3411 Iowa. They were married June 21, 1986, in Lawrence. The couple requests no gifts, but please bring stories and photos to share to be included in a memory book.
Nell and Jerry Sherman, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Nellouise Shanahan and Jerry L. Sherman were married June 10, 1951, in Iola. They met in Iola and were married while Jerry was a student at Kansas University and Nell was a nursing student at KU Medical Center. After marriage, Jerry joined the U.S. Air Force and the couple traveled extensively. After retiring from the Air Force, they made their home in Lawrence in 1972. They have three sons, Tom and Fred, both of Olathe, and Barry, Overland Park; a daughter, Penny, Arlington, Texas; and nine grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.
