Bob and Mildred Goans, Lawrence, will celebrate 65 years of marriage with an open reception Sunday at Central United Methodist Church. Robert T. Goans and Mildred M. Bray were married Jan. 14, 1946, in Sedalia, Mo., a few days after Bob’s discharge from the U.S. Army, where he served in the South Pacific during World War II. The couple have been best friends for 70 years. Four generations of family will host the reception. From Lawrence, son Mike and wife Ann; grandchildren Lisa Goans, and Julie Goans-Heinz and husband Kirk Heinz; and great-grandchildren Michael and Laura Quackenbush and Jessie and Ellie Goans-Heinz. Son Brad is visiting from Tecopa, Calif. and grandson Allen and wife Brooke are visiting from Kirksville, Mo. Four other grandchildren and two great-grandchildren celebrate with them from afar.
Wake and Anderson

She is the owner of Professional Sitters Unlimited, an agency specializing in the care of disabled and senior citizens who need assistance. Pastor Anderson, semi-retired, travels and teaches the gospel at churches in Chicago and around the Midwest. The couple are planning a Feb. 19, 2011, wedding at El Shaddi Church in Topeka.

He earned a history degree from KU in 2006, completed the paramedic program from Johnson County Community College, and is a paramedic for Johnson County area. The couple reside in Lawrence.
