Mariann and Alden Bradley, Eudora, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on Oct. 9 at the family farm. The couple also will spend a week with their children and grandchildren in Branson, Mo. Mariann Thomas and Alden Bradley were married Oct. 9, 1960, at Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church in Augusta, Ga. Alden graduated from Lawrence High School in 1955. He retired from Farmland Industries after 36 years. He enjoys his farm and raising Hereford cattle. Mariann graduated from Richmond Academy in Augusta. She was a long distance telephone operator before her marriage. She has been a homemaker and also enjoys farm life. They have two sons, Alden Jr. and wife Courtnay, Prairie Village, and Allen, Eudora; and a daughter, Debbie Grosdidier and husband Glen, Eudora; and three granddaughters.

Nina and Melvin Wehner, Eudora, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house and reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Holy Family Parish Hall, 820 Birch St., Eudora. Nina Koci and Melvin Wehner were married Oct. 12, 1950, in Delia. Melvin is a retired businessman. Chuck and Mary Loveland, Lawrence, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with an afternoon reception hosted by their children and their spouses on Aug. 1 at the South Park Gazebo. Mary Ladesich and Chuck Loveland were married Sept. 5, 1970, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Overland Park. Chuck has been a pediatrician in Lawrence since 1976, following graduation from Kansas University School of Medicine and completion of his residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Mary is completing her fifth term on the USD 497 Board of Education and coordinated youth sports programs in Lawrence for nine years. The couple have a son, Doug and wife Amy, Overland Park; three daughters, Meredith Brown and husband Erik, Cincinnati, Morgan Robertson and husband Casey, Branson, Mo., and Aidan Koster and husband Chris, Great Bend; and eight grandchildren.

Bette Quigley and Emil Heck Jr. were married Oct. 21, 1950, in Bette’s hometown of Gower, Mo. In March 1951, the couple moved into the rural Douglas Country home where they still reside. Emil, a 1938 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School, is a lifetime Douglas County resident and retired farmer. Bette graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in home economics. She moved to Lawrence to be a Douglas County Extension agent before becoming a homemaker. Emil is a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Bette has been a member for 60 years. They have four children, Linda Bennett and husband Darrell, Leawood; Michael Heck, Lawrence; Mark Heck, Leawood; and Susan Holcomb and husband Bob, Lenexa; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Miriam Beatriz Toledo Subirana, Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and Jonathan Thomas Lusk, Lawrence, were married July 30, 2010, at Parroquia Maria Auxiliadora in Santa Cruz, with the Rev. Ciro Montemuro officiating. The bride is the daughter of Ludwig Toledo Vazquez and Sara Miriam Subirana Suarez, Santa Cruz. The groom is the son of John Lyndon Lusk, Lawrence, and Renette Channell, Lawrence. A reception was given at Club Social 24 de Septiembre in Santa Cruz. The bride graduated from Espiritu Santo High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. She earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from Kansas University and currently is working on her Ph.D. dissertation in civil engineering at KU. She also is a graduate teaching assistant. The groom is a graduate of Free State High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, both from KU, and is currently employed at the National Institute for Aviation Research. The couple reside in Wichita.
