She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, in 2003 and an educational specialist degree in school psychology from Kansas University in 2005. She is a school psychologist for the Topeka public schools. The future groom is the son of Norman II and Lealona Bouwie, Wichita. He is a 1998 graduate of Heights High School in Wichita. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2002 and a master’s degree in accounting and information systems in 2006, both from KU. He is an internal auditor for The Kroger Company in Cincinnati. Francis and Betty Alexander, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 3 at the Eagles Lodge, 1803 W. Sixth St., Lawrence. The couple were married July 2, 1950, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence. Francis is a retired detective sergeant for the Lawrence police department. Betty is retired from Farmland Industries. They have two sons, Larry, Olathe, and Duane, Lawrence; a daughter, Rhonda Busch, Fairfax, Va.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Bob and Elaine Blank, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Friday. Robert Blank and Elaine Modrell were married June 25, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo. Bob, a portrait and wedding photographer, owned the Hixon Studio from 1955 to 1992. Elaine worked in the Kansas University athletic department in the 1950s and at Allen Press in the 1970s. They have a daughter, Sheri Robertson, Houston; two sons, Rob, Lawrence, and Randall and wife Betty, Lodi, Calif.; and three granddaughters.
Charles and Erma Fisher, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family cruise on the Disney Magic. Charles Fisher and Erma Carstens were married June 26, 1960, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Torrance, Calif. They have a daughter, Lisa Gilbert and husband James, Eudora; and two granddaughters, Mallory and Loralei. Their son, Brad, died in 1973. The couple requests no gifts.
