Donald and Sharon Curran, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Union Pacific depot. Donald Curran and Sharon Houk were married June 4, 1960, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Big Springs. Sharon retired from Jostens, and Don retired from Lawrence Paper Company. The couple have three sons, Jeff and Don, Lawrence, and Randy, Carbondale; and two daughters, Laura Warner and Christy Curran, Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.

Seaver

Clarence and Lucy Seaver, Lawrence, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Smith Center at Brandon Woods. The event will be hosted by their daughter, Cheryl Wonnell; granddaughter Micki Prager with her husband, Jamie, and their children, Taylor and Tyler; and grandson Rob Wonnell with his wife, Sarah, and their children, Josiah and Micah. Lucy Kell and Clarence Seaver were married June 1, 1940. They lived in McLouth most of their lives. Clarence farmed and worked as the shop foreman at Murphy Hall at Kansas University for 16 years. Lucy worked at various jobs in McLouth and Lawrence and was a homemaker. Clarence also celebrated his 90th birthday on May 30. Charles and Louise Wintermantel, Worden, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house and barbecue at 6:30 p.m. June 12 at their home, 446 E. 1100 Road, Worden. The celebration will be hosted by their children. The couple were married on June 5, 1960, at the Clinton United Presbyterian Church. They have lived and farmed in the Worden area most of their married lives. Charles also worked for and retired from the Du Pont Co. Louise worked in Baldwin school food services and served as an activities director at Vintage Park Assisted Living. She was also a farm wife and homemaker. They have two sons, Steven and wife Gina, of Wisconsin, and Mike and wife Kelly, Baldwin City; two daughters, Amy Wintermantel, Baldwin City, and Ellen Peterson and husband Steve, New Delhi, India; and nine grandchildren. George and Sherrill Catt, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today. A family reunion is being planned with their children, grandchildren and in-laws at the Lake of the Ozarks. The couple were married June 19, 1960, in Augusta. They came to Lawrence in 1963 after graduating from the University of Wichita. George was employed as the city hall and general assignment reporter at the Lawrence Journal-World from 1963 to 1965. He then attended Kansas University law school, graduating in 1968. He served as the municipal judge for the City of Lawrence for 26 years and retired in 1998. He is now in private law practice in Lawrence. Sherrill managed Stouffer Place married student housing at KU. She earned a master’s degree from KU, and worked as Title 1 math coordinator for USD 497 for 25 years. She now serves as a supervisor of volunteers for Douglas County CASA. They have two daughters, Cristi Catt and husband Jim Loutzenhiser, Cambridge, Mass., and Carrie Catt and husband Dustin Krone, Florence, Ariz.; a son, Tim and wife Mary Ann, Shawnee; and five grandchildren, Katy and Peter Loutzenhiser, Kendall and Hayden Krone, and Joshua Catt.

Bob, a portrait and wedding photographer, owned the Hixon Studio from 1955 to 1992. Elaine worked in the Kansas University athletic department in the 1950s and at Allen Press in the 1970s. They have a daughter, Sheri Robertson, Houston; two sons, Rob, Lawrence, and Randall and wife Betty, Lodi, Calif.; and three granddaughters.

They have a daughter, Lisa Gilbert and husband James, Eudora; and two granddaughters, Mallory and Loralei. Their son, Brad, died in 1973. The couple requests no gifts.

Taylor and Llamas

L.D. and Kristi Lawrence along with Jeff and Vandi Hodgson announce the engagement of their children, Kristl Llamas and J. Taylor, all of Lawrence. The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Washburn University in 2006 and is a fifth-grade teacher in the De Soto school district. The future groom is also son of the late Joseph Taylor, Sr. He is a 2003 graduate of FSHS, and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas University in 2008. He is a landscaper and will pursue a paramedic’s degree this fall. The couple plan a July 10, 2010, wedding at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.

Coffey and Serio

Glenn and Becky Coffey announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathlynn “Kati” Coffey, all of McLouth, to Jared Grant Serio, Ruston, La. The future bride is a 2004 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas Academy and a 2009 graduate of Colorado Technical University. She is attending Kansas University, and is employed in the information technology department at Standard Beverage Corp. in Lawrence. The future groom is the son of John Jay and Donna Serio, Ruston. He is a 2003 graduate of Ruston High School and a 2007 honors graduate of the University of Arkansas. He is attending graduate school in mathematics at KU. The couple plan a Nov. 20, 2010, wedding in Easton.
