Kristin Bell, Lawrence, and Curtis Fisher, Wichita, were married June 5, 2010, at Stony Point Hall in Baldwin City, with Elmer Fetters officiating. The bride is the daughter of Douglas and Chery Bell, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Kenneth and Janet Fisher, Wichita. Maid of honor was Jessica Oshel. Best man was Danny Burnison. Bridesmaids were Hollie Masten, Kendra Choy and Samantha Sutton Duncan. Groomsmen were Brett Haberly, Brian Choy and Heath Duncan. Flower girl was Madison Oshel. Ringbearer was Jackson Chen. Ushers were Sam and Thomas Boatright. A reception followed at Stony Point Hall. The bride graduated from Free State High School and Washburn University. She is a teacher for USD 501. The groom graduated from Wichita North High School and attended Washburn University. The couple reside in Lawrence.


Dupy and Hornbaker

Tom and Shelly Hornbaker, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jaime Hornbaker, Lawrence, to Matthew Dupy, Salina. The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Kansas University in 2008 and is employed as a senior alumni relations consultant at Pennington & Company. The future groom is the son of Ron Dupy and Kathi Linville, both of Salina. He is a 2003 graduate of Salina High School South. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2007, and a master’s degree in accounting in 2008, both from KU, and is employed as a senior tax accountant for Koch Industries. The couple plan a Dec. 18, 2010, wedding at Danforth Chapel at KU.



Kathryn Amanda Locke, Lawrence, and Kevin Miles Jones II, Junction City, were married July 10, 2010, at First Christian Church in Junction City, with the Revs. Rick Burwick and Ronnie Roberts officiating. The bride is the daughter of Steve and Kathy Locke, Junction City. The groom is the son of Kevin Jones, Junction City, and Rebecca Anderson, Clay Center. Maid of honor was Angel Vann. Best man was Victor Arias. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Felix, Angelique Foye, Gloria Marston and Katie Locke. Groomsmen were Chris Farley, Andrew Michaels and Tim and Caleb Locke. Flower girls were Elizabeth and Emily Locke. Vocalist was Shannon Madden. Reception hostesses were Carlene Rupp, Emilie Heisserer and Ola Reid. A reception followed at the church. The bride was home schooled from kindergarten through ninth grade in Lawrence, before transferring to Junction City High School during her freshman year. After graduation, she returned to Lawrence, and is completing an elementary education degree at Kansas University. She also works in children’s ministry and in the office at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church. The groom is a 2005 graduate of Junction City High School and is studying for a bachelor’s degree in accounting at KU. He is employed with KU Information Technology, and also works part time with Wise and Associates. The couple reside in Lawrence.


Weber and Cole

Bruce and Patty Cole, Wichita, announce the engagement of their daughter, Valerie Annette Cole, Wichita, to Scott Christopher Weber, Lawrence. The future bride graduated from Wichita Northwest High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Kansas University and a master’s degree in accounting from the Ohio State University. She is a certified public accountant and is employed as the senior accounting analyst at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo. The future groom is the son of Galen and Jeanette Weber, Lawrence. He graduated from Free State High School and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from KU. He is a certified public accountant and is employed as a tax associate at CBIZ in Leawood. The couple plan an Oct. 1, 2010, wedding at First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence.



Samantha Inverarity and Gerrick Baize, both of Chelsea, Mich., were married Dec. 19, 2009, at Northlake United Methodist Church in Chelsea, with Alice Sheffield officiating. The bride is the daughter of John and Judy Inverarity, Lawrence, and Donna and Joseph Schwartzenberger, Ann Arbor, Mich. The groom is the son of Charles “Mike” and Karen Baize, Chelsea. Maid of honor was Brandy Sylvain. Best man was Garth Baize. Junior bridesmaid was Shelby Sylvain. Flower girls were Cali Schwartzenberger and Alyson Baize. Ring bearer was Trigger Baize. A reception was held June 12 at the Chelsea Fairgrounds. The bride attended Lawrence High School and graduated from Chelsea High School. She graduated from Washburn University School of Nursing and is employed at Allegiance Health in Jackson, Mich. The groom is also a graduate of Chelsea High School and is employed at Bollinger’s Excavating. The couple reside in Chelsea.



Joyce and Stan Mullenix, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with their family. Stan Mullenix and Joyce Edmonds were married July 21, 1950, at Danforth Chapel in St. Louis. Stan is a graduate of Kansas University. He served in the military during World War II. He retired in 1987 after teaching at West Junior High School for 24 years and at Eureka High School for four years. Joyce graduated from Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in 1951. She worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for 11 years, and as a school nurse for USD 497 for 22 years, retiring in 1989. The couple have four daughters, Chris Johnson and husband Kenny of Lawrence, Cindy Gilmore and husband Jack of Phoenix, Sue Kanoho and husband, Farrell of Fairfield, Calif., and Julie Halling and husband Andy of Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.



Alexandra Tindall, Lawrence, and Nathan Myers, Americus, were married June 19, 2010, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. Matt Zimmerman officiating. The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Janet Tindall, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Howard Myers, Overbrook, and Holly Myers, Lawrence. Maid of honor was Katlyn Conroy. Best man was Christopher Scott. Bridesmaids were Sarah Speight, Nicole Shoffner and Lauren James. Groomsmen were Cory Tindall, Tim Ostrander and James Hetrick. Ushers were Joey Tindall and Dustin James. Ringbearers were Ayden Tindall and Isaiah Jarett. Flower girl was Haven Jarett. A reception followed at Maceli’s. The bride is a 2006 graduate of Lawrence High School. She plans to complete a bachelor’s degree in business at KU in December with a double major in marketing and information systems technology. She is the student supervisor of the KU IT lab staff and ResNet department. The groom is a 2001 graduate of LHS. He earned an associate degree in electronics and computer technology from DeVry University in March, and is a field service technician for ScriptPro in Mission. The couple reside in Lawrence.



Dennis and Delores “Dolly” Sooby, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June with a limo ride to dinner at Lidia’s in Kansas City, Mo. Also attending were their children, daughters-in-law, and Dolly’s brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marcie Gough, McHenry, Ill., who were celebrating their 53rd anniversary with two of their children, Pam and Dan Gough. The couple were married March 25, 1950, in Elgin, Ill. Dennis attended Larned High School. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1946 and served in the Army of Occupation in Japan. He graduated from Elgin Watch College in 1950 and was a watchmaker for Sooby Jewelry in Larned from 1950 to 1954. He also was a pilot and flight instructor for Erhart Flying Service in Lawrence from 1954 to 1972, chief pilot for Viking Investment in Lawrence from 1972 to 1975 and pilot for Kansas University from 1975 to 1992. Dolly graduated Elgin High School in 1948. She worked at Elgin Watch Factory from 1948 to 1950 and at E&E Specialties in Lawrence from 1978 to 1990. They have three sons, Steven D. and wife Marlene Rupp, Malden, Mass., Thomas B., Las Vegas, and Larry D. and wife Ruth Ann Sooby, Woodbridge, Va.; and a daughter, Rita L. Sooby, Lawrence. The couple requests no gifts.



Stephanie Diane Neis and Joshua Dean Simon, both of St. Joseph, Mo., announce their engagement. The future bride is the daughter of the late Charles and Julia Neis. She is a graduate of Eudora High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences and business administration from Pittsburg State University. The future groom is the son of Bob and Linda Simon, Ozawkie. He is a graduate of Lawrence High School and attended Johnson County Community College. He is employed with Chik-Fil-A Corp., in St. Joseph. The couple plan an Oct. 23, 2010, wedding at Word of Life Church in St. Joseph.
