Towner and Davis
Katie Towner, Lawrence, and Steven Davis, Springdale, Ark., were married Oct. 2, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center in Lawrence, with the Rev. Tom Brady officiating. The bride is the daughter of Randy and LeAnn Towner, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Bob and Linda Davis, Lawrence. Bridesmaids were Libby Lamberson, Abby Towner and Meagan Redman. Groomsmen were Andrew Daugherty, Joe Bellinger and John Moos. Ushers were Jamie Lamberson and Danny Helmer. Reader was Sarah Preston. Ringbearer was Mason Henry. Flower girl was Meg Henry. A reception was given at Alvamar Country Club. The bride is a 2004 graduate of Free State High School and a 2009 graduate of Kansas University School of Nursing. She is a registered nurse at Willow Creek Women’s Hospital in Johnson, Ark. The groom is a 2000 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 2005 graduate of KU. He is a radio announcer for Northwest Arkansas Naturals baseball and the University of Missouri-Kansas City basketball teams. The couple reside in Springdale.
Schieffer and Pam
Melissa Schieffer, Lawrence, and Antonio Pam, Hollandale, Miss., were married Nov. 7, 2009, at Old Shawnee Town, with Judge Linda Trigg officiating. The bride is the daughter of David Schieffer, Shawnee, and Karen Schieffer, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Willie Brockman and Ethel Brockman, both of Hollandale. Maids of honor were Maria Monroe and Josie Johnson. Best man was Tony Anderson. Bridesmaid was Michelle Schieffer. Groomsmen were Michael Hicks and Will Thomas. Ushers were Jimmy Osen and Spencer Chaney. A reception followed at Old Shawnee Town. The bride is a 2001 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in family studies and human services from Kansas State University in 2007 and is the director at Building Blocks DayCare Center in Lawrence. The groom is a 2004 graduate of Simmons High School in Hollandale, and is employed by Berry Plastics. The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride is the daughter of Harold and Lulu Morris, Lexington. The groom is the son of C.R. and Ruth Herpich, Lawrence. Maid of honor was Joey Gander. Best man was Rick Norris. Bridesmaids were Tommi Angotti and Kris White. Groomsmen were Toby Douglass and Brian Kirby. Organizers were Melissa Koehler-Morton and Janiece Tischinski. O'Brien and Hider
Jim and Marlene Witthaus, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Hider, to Tyler O’Brien, both of Overland Park. The future bride is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned bachelor’s degree in management from Baker University and is a training coordinator for Black & Veatch. The future groom is the son of Barry and Barbara O’Brien, Louisburg. He is a 2004 graduate of Louisburg High School. He earned an associate degree in liberal arts from Johnson County Community College and is a project manager for Automated Ingredient Systems. The couple plan a June 18, 2010, wedding at The Villa in Kansas City Mo.
Charles and Karen Edmonds, Winchester, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 23 in the fellowship hall of Nortonville Pleasant Grove Christian Church, 19861 Osage Road, Nortonville. Charles R. Edmonds and Karen M. Bryant were married Dec. 24, 1959, in McLouth. The couple are semi-retired from owning and operating Winchester Hardware & Rental Storage for the past 30 years. They enjoy spending time with their family and operating Rocky Hills Elk Ranch and also C and D Berries. They have a son, Richard and wife Becky, Valley Falls; a daughter, Gigi Perry and husband J.R., Winchester; and four grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.

Karen Burk and Cyrus Mody, both of Houston, were married Dec. 24, 2009, at the Pagoda, Hermann Park, in Houston, with Judge Armando Rodriguez officiating. The bride is the daughter of Albert and Amanda Burk, Milford, Del. The groom is the son of Cawas “Bill” and Janet Mody, Lawrence. A luncheon followed in the Churchill Room of the Black Labrador Restaurant. The bride graduated from Milford (Del.) High School. She attended the University of Delaware and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She is continuing her education at the University of Houston and is a senior specialist with OPI Global at SCI. The groom graduated from Lawrence High School and Harvard University. He earned a doctorate from Cornell University and teaches the history of science at Rice University. The couple reside in Houston.

The bride is the daughter of John and Joy Lloyd, White Hall, Ark., and Dicksie Lloyd, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Tom and Pam Heath, Lawrence. Matron of honor was Carrie Lloyd Garcia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in December 2007 and a master’s degree in May 2009, both in accounting, from Kansas University. She is a federal tax associate at KPMG in Kansas City, Mo. The groom is a 2004 graduate of Free State High School. He earned an associate degree in respiratory care from Johnson County Community College in May 2008. He is a registered respiratory therapist at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. The couple reside in Overland Park.
