Don and Darlene Cole, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a seven-day Caribbean cruise in January with their family. The cruise was a gift from their sons and their families. The couple were married Nov. 24, 1959. Both graduated from Stillwater (Okla.) High School and attended Oklahoma State University. They are retired. Don managed OTASCO in several locations including Lawrence. Darlene retired from Douglas County Conservation. They have two sons, Dean, Lawrence, and Darren, Katy, Texas; and four grandchildren. Gordon and Mary Lou Schulenberg, Lawrence, will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary with a dinner. The couple were married Feb. 17, 1975, in Vancouver, Wash. Gordon retired from Kansas University after 25 years. Mary Lou retired from KU after 19 years. They have two daughters, Ruth Schulenberg, San Francisco, and Terrie Schulenberg and husband Oliver Uttley, Lawrence; two sons, Jason Gade and wife Janice, Aloha, Ore., and Dan Gade, Pasadena, Texas; and four grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.

Demby

Richard and Bertha Demby, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 12 with a Winter Wonderland dinner at the Community Building in Lawrence. The couple were married Dec. 21, 1949, in De Kalb, Miss. Richard worked for the City of Lawrence for about 30 years. He retired in 1991. Bertha worked as a nurse’s aide in Lawrence for about 20 years. She retired in 1995. They have eight sons, one daughter, 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Hirschberg

Robert and Aleta Hirschberg, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Robert Hirschberg and Aleta Jones were married Feb. 23, 1950, in Lawrence. Robert retired in 1997 from the Santa Fe Railway after working 35 years. Aleta retired in 1999 after teaching in the Arkansas City school district for 32 years. They moved to Lawrence in 2002.

Harold and Wincel Jehle, Baldwin City, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Tuesday. Harold Jehle and Wincel D. Butell were married Feb. 23, 1950, at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Willie Warner in Baldwin City. They both graduated from Baldwin High School. Wincel graduated from Baker University in 1950. They have lived in the Worden area all of their marriage. They have two sons, Ronald and wife Kay, Keller, Texas, and Charles and wife Janet, Baldwin City; and three grandchildren.
