Parman and Lawrence
Craig Parman, Belle Plaine, and Dena Parman and Bethany Mills, both of Wichita, along with Brian and Joni Lawrence of Lawrence, announce the engagement of their children, Tamera Parman and Matthew Lawrence, both of Lawrence. The future bride is also the daughter of the late Lloyd Mills. She is a 2002 graduate of Mulvane High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Kansas University in 2006 and plans to graduate from KU’s School of Law in May 2010. The future groom is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from KU in 2007. He is a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and is stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, N.M. The couple plan an Oct. 17, 2009, wedding at Danforth Chapel at KU.
Sanders and Brown
Lawrence and Karen Sanders, Eudora, announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Lynn Sanders, Manhattan, to Shawn Brown, Junction City. The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Eudora High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Kansas State University in 2008. She is a paraeducator with Manhattan High School, a Mary Kay consultant, and works part time at Riddles Jewelry Store. The future groom is the son of James and Jill Brown, Crown Point, Ind. He is a 2004 graduate of Crown Point High School and is a sergeant in the 1st Infantry Division. He was deployed to Iraq in August. She is a critical care nurse at Olathe Medical Center. The groom is a 2001 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School and a mechanical engineering student at KU. The couple reside in Lawrence.

Marge and John Hummelgaard, Rogers, Ark., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at the VFW, 910 E. First St., Tonganoxie. The couple were married Sept. 24, 1949, in Camden, Mo. Marge was born in Lawrence and retired as the center director of Bell Center in Kansas City, Kan. John was born in Tonganoxie and retired as the maintenance foreman with the Board of Public Utilities in Kansas City, Kan. They have four daughters, Vicki Bowman, Gladstone, Mo.; Cherry Mastro, Tonganoxie, Donna Kolojaco, Oskaloosa, and chief master sergeant Kathy Gaul, March Air Base, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.
Paul “Jim” and Leona Nunn, Edwards Mo., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a picnic luncheon hosted by their children on Oct. 3 in Warsaw, Mo. Paul Nunn and Leona Minter were married Nov. 18, 1949, in Kansas City, Kan. The couple lived in Bonner Springs and Linwood for several years and currently reside in the Forthview area of Missouri. Paul was employed at Lone Star Cement Plant in Bonner Springs for 30 years and retired in 1978. They have two daughters, Janice Green and husband John, Warsaw, Mo., and Marilyn Pitnick and husband Steve, Lawrence; four sons, Danny and Jerry, both of Warsaw, Mike and wife Cindy, Linwood, and the late Toby; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
