Brummett and Rumback
Mike and Susan Brummett announce the engagement of their daughter, Martha Brummett, all of Lawrence, to Benjamin Rumback, Hutchinson. The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Free State High School. She is studying fashion design at Columbia College in Chicago and is a florist at Marguerite Gardens in Chicago. The future groom is the son of Don and Karla Rumback, Hutchinson. He is a 2001 graduate of Trinity Catholic High School and studied painting at Kansas University. He is a preschool teacher at Hoyne Street Playgroup in Chicago and a self-employed artist. The couple plan a Nov. 14, 2009, wedding in The Alton Ballroom at Pachamama’s.
High and Ledbetter
Scott and Michele High, Bertrand, Neb., announce the engagement of their daughter, Monica High, to Curtis Ledbetter, both of Lincoln, Neb. The future bride is a graduate of Bertrand High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is an assistant store leader at Scheels in Lincoln. The future groom is the son of Calvin and Karen Ledbetter, Lawrence. He is a graduate of Lawrence High School, a 2005 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and is the director of baseball operations for the university. The couple plan an Oct. 3, 2009, wedding in Lincoln.
Conn and Franklin
Libby Jane Conn and Joseph Benjamin Franklin, both of New Haven, Conn., announce their engagement. The future bride is the daughter of Les Conn, Cheshire, Conn., and Mary Conn, Eudora. She is a 2000 graduate of Free State High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 2004. She is a producer for Connecticut Public Radio, an NPR affiliate in Hartford. The future groom is the son of Ray and Jane Franklin, Orlando, Fla. He is a graduate of Winter Park High School in Orlando. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 2004 and is completing a doctorate in cell biology at Yale University. The couple plan a Nov. 7, 2009, wedding in Lawrence.
Nicole Marie Andregg, Lawrence, and Tyler Lee McWilliams, Lee’s Summit, Mo., were married June 20, 2009, at Plymouth Congregational Church, in Lawrence, with the Rev. Peter Luckey officiating. The bride is the daughter of Todd and Karen Andregg, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Jerry and Dawn McWilliams, Lee’s Summit. Maids of honor were Kailey Mesler, Amanda Faletra, Jessica Nichols and Taylor McWilliams. Best man was Nate McWilliams. Groomsmen were Kevin Compton, Nick McWilliams and Alex Goff-Awad. Flower girl was Krystal Flathers. Ringbearer was Chandler Scruggs. Candlelighters were Miranda Stromgren and Ashtyn Scruggs. Ushers were Travis Andregg, Zach Andregg, Jerod Post and Jordan Post. A reception was given at Maceli’s. The bride is a 2004 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology/psychology from Northwest Missouri State University and is studying for a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Southwest Baptist University. The groom is a 2004 graduate of Lee’s Summit North High School. He earned bachelor’s degrees in marketing and management from NWMSU, and is studying for a Master of Business Administration degree also from NWMSU. He is employed with Commerce Bank. The couple reside in Bolivar, Mo.
Bill and Patricia Mayhew, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the home of Carol and Dave Kyner. The dinner was hosted by their daughter Lisa Mayhew and husband Johnny White; their son Scott and wife Jessica; and three granddaughters. Bill Mayhew and Patricia Darnell were married on Aug. 30, 1959, in Plainville. They are both Kansas University graduates and retired in Lawrence in 2001, after living for many years in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Schrock Wayne and Janet Schrock, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family at Grand Lake, Colo., in August. Wayne Schrock and Janet Rae Millen were married on Sept. 6, 1959, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, in Republic, with the Rev. H. Frank Bennent officiating. Wayne graduated from Hutchinson Community College and earned a chemical engineering degree from Kansas University. He retired from FMC Corporation, in Princeton, N.J., after 40 years of service. Janet earned a music education degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg. She taught music for six years in elementary and junior high schools in WaKeeney and Charleston, W.Va., before retiring to raise their family. They moved to Lawrence in 1999, after Wayne’s retirement and reside at 1004 Branchwood Drive. They have three sons, Douglas, Medford, Ore.; Daryl, Cresent City, Calif.; and David and wife Jennifer, Lone Tree, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Ryan, Carly and Logan.
Bob and Evelyn Senecal, Lawrence, were married 50 years ago on Aug. 22, 1959, at St. Bartholomew Church, in Newayo, Mich. In August, the couple’s four children, Michelle, Mike, Matt and Rob, spouses and 10 grandchildren co-hosted a yard sale followed by a private outdoor dinner party at the home of Rob and Katie Senecal and a brunch at Maceli’s. Bob and Evelyn have celebrated the year by traveling throughout the states visiting relatives and friends and hosting separate vacations with each of their children and families. Bob is dean emeritus of Kansas University’s Division of Continuing Education, where he served for 34 years. He is formerly a Mott Foundation director, in Flint, Mich., community development specialist for the University of Iowa, and specialist for the Kansas Board of Regents and State Education Commission. He earned a doctorate in administration of higher education and adult education from the University of Iowa before moving to Kansas in 1969. Evelyn recently retired after nearly 30 years as a certified financial planner where she owned a franchise business with Ameriprise Financial Services and served as a senior financial adviser and member of the Hall of Fame. She is formerly a home economics instructor for Flint Community College in Michigan and the University of Iowa, where she earned a doctorate in administration of higher education and home economics. She has served as assistant to the dean of the KU School of Law and associate dean of the College of Home Economics at Kansas State University. In lieu of a reception, the Senecals invite friends to stop by their residence at 2101 La., to offer best wishes.
Rich and Ginny Hedges, Lawrence, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Rich Hedges and Ginny O’Keefe were married on Sept. 6, 1969, in Lawrence. They are both Lawrence High School graduates. Rich has worked for many years in the trucking industry and is currently employed by Old Dominion Freight Line. Ginny worked for several years in area school districts. She also worked at Sallie Mae and Capitol Federal, both in Lawrence. The couple also founded Big Guy’s Toy Trucks Inc. in the 1990’s. They have a daughter, Julie, of Lawrence.
