Kansal and Rill
Rakesh and Jeannette Kansal, Scottsdale, Ariz., announce the engagement of their daughter, Anjali Kansal, to Brent Rill, both of Lawrence. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and business management from the University of Arizona and a Masters in Social Work degree from Kansas University. She is an independent contractor for Social Work PRN in Overland Park. The future groom is the son of Bob and Bobbie Rill, Tucson, Ariz. He is a graduate of Gladwin High School in Gladwin, Mich. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Cedarville University in Ohio and is a certified public accountant at Mize Houser & Co. in Topeka. The couple plan an Oct. 10, 2009, wedding at Desert Mountain in Scottsdale.
Upsdell and Omoniyi
David and Mei Upsdell, along with Abiodun and Folashade Omoniyi and Taju and Kafayat Hamodu, announce the engagement of their children, Shanxi Upsdell, Shawnee, to Ifeoluwa Omoniyi, Lawrence. The future bride is a 2004 homeschool graduate and a 2008 graduate of Kansas University. She earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English and is a copy editor at the Lawrence Journal-World. The future groom is a 2002 graduate of Lifeforte International High School in Nigeria and a 2008 graduate of KU. He earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and finance and plans to graduate in December with a master’s degree in economics. He works part time at KU. The couple plan an Aug. 8, 2009, wedding at Providence Community Church in Lenexa.
Anstaett and All
Ashley Anstaett and Matt All, both of Lawrence, were married Jan. 24, 2009, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University, with Steve Six officiating. The bride is the daughter of Doug and Lucinda Anstaett, Topeka. The groom is the son of David and Priscilla All, Augusta. Maid of honor was Beth Iversen. Helena and Thomas All, children of the groom, were his attendants. Flower girl was Olivia Iversen. A reception was given at The Alton Room at Pachamama’s. The bride graduated from Newton High School, in Newton, and earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and religious studies from Kansas University. She is the communications director for the Kansas Attorney General’s Office. The groom graduated from Augusta High School, in Augusta, and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from KU and a law degree from Yale Law School. He formerly served as the chief counsel to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and is a vice president and the general counsel for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas. The couple reside in Lawrence.
Voran and Anderson
Erica Voran, Leawood, and Jonathan Anderson, Ottawa, were married Dec. 27, 2008, at Church of the Nativity, in Leawood, with the Rev. Jerry Arano-Ponce officiating. The bride is the daughter of Joel and Marsha Voran, Leawood. The groom is the son of Steven and Roberta Anderson, Ottawa. Maid of honor was Ashley Voran. Best man was Mark Anderson. Bridesmaids were Rachel Anderson, Jill Scott, Victoria Luhrs and Katie Verschelden. Groomsmen were Eric Anderson, Ben Voran, Derrick Hooker and Kenneth Norton. Ushers were Ryan Ebright, David Moss, Brad Bloss and Trenton Moss. Lectors were Jill Voran, Jan Bloss and Greg Kooser. The Rev. Dave Robertson gave a wedding blessing. A reception was given at the Carriage Club on the Plaza and music was provided by The Karen Lewis Project. The bride earned an elementary education degree from Kansas State University. She is a teacher for the Olathe District Schools. The groom earned a finance degree from Kansas State. He is a third-year law student at University Missouri-Kansas City and is employed by Jackson and Wade, LLC. The couple reside in Mission.
Robert “Bob” and Betty Williams will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 at their rural Perry home. Their children and grandchildren will be hosts for the event. Robert Williams and Betty Nichols were married on March 27, 1959, at the Church of Christ in Lawrence. Bob was employed at FMC in Lawrence for 15 years and self-employed for several years before retiring in 2002. He is presently employed for USD 343 in Perry. Betty retired from the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department in 2000. They have two sons, Bob and wife Tammy, and Bryan and wife Wendi; a daughter, Marlene Blosser and husband Tim, all of Perry; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The couple request no gifts.
Roy Sr. and Sharon McNish, Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 22 at the F.O.P. Hall, 7844 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kan. Their children and grandchildren will be hosts for the event. Roy D. McNish Sr. and Sharon Payne were married on March 20, 1959, in Lawrence. Roy has been employed by Erman Corp. Inc., Kansas City, Kan., for 39 years, and Sharon is a homemaker. They have one daughter, Bonnie Gauna; and three sons, Roy Jr., Robert and Monty, all of Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Nixon and McNulty
Rachel Nixon and Michael McNulty, both of Topeka, announce their engagement. The future bride is the daughter of Patricia Nixon, Omaha, Neb., and the late Stephen Nixon. She is a 1997 graduate of Bryan High School and is studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Washburn University. She is a legal secretary for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The future groom is the son of Judy and Tom McNulty, Lawrence. He is a 1995 graduate of Eudora High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in earth sciences from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is the operations director for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Center for Public Health Preparedness. The couple plan a June 13, 2009, wedding at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka.
Don and Mary Walker, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 21. Their children will be hosts for the event, which will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 21 at The Lodge in Baldwin City. Don Walker and Mary Wauge were married March 21, 1959, in Lawrence. Mary worked at the former Department of Radio and Television at Kansas University, was a bus driver for the Lawrence school district for 13 years, and worked in the seafood department at Dillon’s for 13 years before retiring in 1999. Don was employed by All Star Dairy for 28 years and Dillon’s for 10 years before retiring in 1999. They have been members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church since 1976. They have two daughters, Lori Foos and husband Randy, Eudora, and Lisa Pattrick and husband Mike, Baldwin City; and a son, David and wife Theresa, Kingman; and seven grandchildren.
