Van Blaricum and Jennings
Katie Jennings, Lawrence, and Jay VanBlaricum, Pratt, were married Aug. 23, 2008, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University, with the Rev. Jim Harper officiating. The bride is the daughter of Jerry Jennings and Christine Fritzel, both of Lawrence. The groom is the son of Ken and Annette VanBlaricum, Pratt. Maid of honor was Christine Fritzel. Best man was Mark VanBlaricum. Bridesmaids were Kim Cooper, Diana Smith, Suzanne Jennings and Valerie Jennings. Groomsmen were Steven Briggeman, Leah Jenkins, Andrew Graves and Renee Stanley. Ringbearers were Jasmin Messenger and Keith VanBlaricum. Flower girl was Marguerite Cooper. A reception was given at Adams Alumni Center. The bride is a 2001 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from KU in 2005 and is the owner of Insect Art. The groom is a 1997 graduate of Pratt High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music theory and a juris doctorate, both from KU. He is an attorney with the Kansas Court of Tax Appeals and sings tenor with the vocal ensemble Octarium. The couple reside in Lawrence.
Thein and Watkins
Katherine Watkins, Lawrence, and Scott Thein, Leawood, were married Jan. 24, 2009, at St. Agnes Church, in Fairway, with the Rev. John Wisner officiating. The bride is the daughter of John and Melissa Watkins, Lawrence. The groom is the son of David and Sheree Thein, Leawood. Maid of honor was Elizabeth McDole. Best man was Travis Thein. Bridesmaids were Joy Friedman, Kristi McNearny, Stacey Thein, Laura Watkins and Gina Zanolli. Groomsmen were John Stevenson and Christopher Watkins. Ushers were Nicholas McDole, Ryan Cope, and Reed Cope. Guest book attendant was Rachel Cope. A reception was given at The Clubhouse on Baltimore in Kansas City, Mo. The bride is a graduate of Free State High School. She earned a business administration degree from Kansas University in 2005 and is a real estate analyst with Novogradac and Company. The groom is a 1999 graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from KU in 2003 and juris doctorate from University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2006. He is a corporate attorney for Kansas City Power and Light. The couple reside in Kansas City, Mo.
Kliem and Grammer
Dorothy Grammer and Alex Kliem, both of Lawrence, were married May 3, 2008, at Stony Point Hall, in Baldwin City, with the Rev. Randy Beeman officiating. The bride is the daughter of Wesley Jr. and Judy Grammer, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Lew and Ann Kliem, Lawrence. Maid of honor was Candice Lucero. Best man was Matthew Kliem. Bridesmaid was Deborah Mayorga. Groomsman was Bryan Funk. Flower girl was Caitlynn Grammer. Ringbearer was Braeson Kliem. Ushers were Marc Kliem and Matthew Grammer. A reception followed at Stony Point Hall. The bride is a 2000 graduate of Lawrence High School. She attended Kansas University and is employed with Natek, Inc. The groom is a 2000 graduate of Free State High School. He served four years for the U.S. Marine Corps and is employed with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. The couple reside in Lawrence.
George and Vick
Neal and Lynn George along with Kevan and Gail Ellena Vick, all of Lawrence, announce the engagement of their children, Ariel Katelyn George to Colby Ellena Vick, both of Houston. The future bride is a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, with a minor in history, from Kansas University in 2008. The future groom is a 2001 graduate of LHS. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical and petroleum engineering from KU in 2005 and is a facility engineer with Occidental Oil and Gas. The couple plan a May 9, 2009, wedding at Stony Point Hall in Baldwin City.

Austyn Boyett and Matt Windle, both of Lawrence, announce their engagement. The future bride is the daughter of Brock and Lisa Boyett, Lenexa. She graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School and attended Kansas University. She is employed with Boston Financial Services. The future groom is the son of Carl and Bev Windle, Baldwin City. He graduated from Columbine High School. He earned an English degree from KU and is studying for a master’s degree at Baker University. He is an assistant volleyball coach at Baker and an assistant manager at Applebee’s. The couple plan a July 25, 2009, wedding at The Clubhouse on Baltimore, in Kansas City, Mo.

Katlyn Conroy and Joshua Landau, both of Lawrence, announce their engagement. The future bride is the daughter of Patrick Conroy and Lana Conroy, both of Lawrence. She is a graduate of Lawrence High School, a solo musician as well as a member of Lawrence band, Another Holiday, and a customer service representative. The future groom is the son of Mason and Susanne Landau, Shawnee. He is a graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He is studying for a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Kansas University, where he was a member of KU Marching/Basketball Band from 2006-2008. He is also a local musician in the band, Another Holiday, and a customer service representative. The couple plan a 2011 wedding at Danforth Chapel at KU.
