Sara Margaretha Stenegren and Anthony Fredrick William Friede, both of London, announce their engagement. The future bride is the daughter of Mats and Barbro Stenegren, Leksand, Sweden. She graduated from Media Graphic Education Center, G.U.C. Gymnasium in Uppsala, Sweden. She earned a business degree from I.H.M. Business School, Institute for Higher Marketing in Stockholm, Sweden, and is a retail account executive for Virgin Media in London. The future groom is the son of Richard and Maggie Friede, Decatur, Ill., and Patrick and Victoria Friel, Lawrence. He is a graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Kansas University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. He is a management consultant with PA Consulting in London. The couple plan a summer 2010 wedding in Sweden.

The future bride is a 2005 graduate of Baldwin High School. She is attending nursing school at Pittsburg State University and plans to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in May. The future groom is the son of Ricky and Paula Reeder, Ewing, Mo. He is a 2004 graduate of Junction City High School. He attended Pittsburg State University and is a military policeman in the U.S. Army. He is serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Shanks and Lokay
John Shanks and Kathryn Shanks, both of Phoenix, announce the engagement of their daughter Jensina Shanks to Joseph Lokay, both of Lawrence. The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Genesis Academy of Phoenix. She is studying to be a licensed cosmetologist and is a photographer at Picture Me Portrait Studios. The future groom is the son of William Crabb, Topeka, and Martha White, Lawrence. He is a 1995 graduate of Topeka High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in organismal biology from Kansas University in 2002 and is a program manager at Vangent Inc. in Lawrence. The couple plan a June 14, 2009, wedding in Lawrence.
Ken and Marilyn Lahm will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family brunch Sunday at Alvamar Country Club. Ken Lahm and Marilyn Happs were married Feb. 15, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, Iowa. The couple moved to Lawrence in 1958. Ken worked for DuPont for 42 years and retired in 1989. Marilyn is a retired licensed practical nurse. Their children are Raymond, Kamuela, Hawaii; David and wife Nancy, Lawrence; Sandra Gilliland and husband Keith, Lawrence; and Fred Lahm and wife Christine, Broken Arrow, Okla. They have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Fred and Ruth Ramseyer, De Soto, formerly of Lawrence, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends at an open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at the home of Roger and Carroll Ramseyer, 14685 Kill Creek Road, Gardner. Fred Ramseyer and Ruth Metsinger were married on March 1, 1939, in Lamar, Mo. The couple originally lived in Lamar and moved later to the Lawrence area, after Fred became employed at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. The couple also farmed in Jefferson County, before moving into Lawrence in 1971. Ruth worked in food service for the Lawrence schools. Fred later worked for Allsman Corp. and in maintenance for Kansas University. Their children are Roger and wife Carroll, Mary Ann Marquette and the late Raymond Marquette, and William “Billy” Eugene, who died as a child. They have four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Orville and Judy Johanning, rural Baldwin City, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with family at their home on Feb. 21. The couple were married Feb. 21, 1969, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, in Baldwin City, and have since lived on their family farm. Their children are Amy Johanning, Enfield, Conn., and Carrie Gregoire, Topeka.
Don and Shari Raybern, Lawrence, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary today. The occasion was celebrated earlier with a family trip to Puerto Vallarto, Mexico, in December. Don Raybern and Shari Vick were married Feb. 14, 1969, at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence. The couple have two daughters, Jennifer Raybern, Ottawa, and Kelli Hedges, Auckland, New Zealand.
