Don and Nova Cottrell, Perry, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an informal open house reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Charles Curtis House Museum, 1101 Topeka Blvd., Topeka. Hosts will be their children and their families. The couple were married on Dec. 24, 1949, in Topeka. Don is retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 441 in Wichita. Nova is retired from Jostens Printing and Publishing in Topeka. After retirement, they took on the project of saving the historical Charles Curtis house. The house, now known as The Charles Curtis House Museum, is one of the historical attractions of Topeka. They have a daughter, Patty Dannenberg and husband Rob; and two sons, Gene and wife Kim, and James Cottrell, all of Perry. The couple requests no gifts.

Kenneth Flanders and Goldie Marsh were married on Dec. 11, 1949, in Fanning. Kenneth retired after 50 years as a pharmacist. He graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Kansas University. Goldie has been a homemaker. They have a daughter, Kathy Bachman and husband Jeff, Portland, Ore.; two sons, Jerry and wife Joanna, and Brent and wife Lisa, all of Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Warren and Leota Daniels, rural McLouth, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 26 at First Baptist Church of McLouth. Roscoe Warren Daniels and Leota Mae Winfrey were married on Dec. 26, 1949, at Stanwood Church, in rural McLouth. Warren retired as a heavy equipment operator in 1990. He belonged to Local 101 Operating Engineers for 40 years and was also active in his cattle business. Leota is a homemaker and was a bus driver for McLouth School District for many years. She has also been active in church work over the years. They have two sons, Jim Daniels, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., and John and wife Charlotte, McLouth; two daughters, Delpha Forshee and husband Ron, McLouth, and Delia Heston and husband John, Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Donna Haling, died in 2000. The couple requests no gifts.

Joy and Dee Poindexter, Baldwin City, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Dec. 13 with a family brunch in their home, hosted by their children. The couple were married on Dec. 13, 1984, in Lawrence. Joy graduated from Wakeeney High School in 1968. She is the human resource director at The Sweet Life. Dee graduated from Baldwin High School in 1958. He is the assistant to the subregional vice president of parts for Carquest Auto Parts. He previously owned Poindexter Tire in Ottawa, and Quality Oil in Lawrence. They have two daughters, Rhonda Ball, Cheney, and Cheryl Beach, Baldwin City; four sons, Chad Poindexter, Lawrence, Andy Wedermyer, Mike Poindexter and Nate Wedermyer, all of Baldwin City; and three grandchildren.

Ogden

Donald and D. Jean Ogden, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Niagara Falls last June and plan a private family reception in the spring. Donald F. Ogden and Dolores “Jean” Sparks were married Dec. 27, 1959, at the Church of God in Pratt. Don graduated from Preston (Kan.) High School and worked at the Pratt Tribune newspaper from 1954 to 1962, when he came to work as a printer at the Lawrence Journal-World. He retired from the Journal-World in May 2007 after 45 years with the company. Jean graduated from Pratt High School in 1960 and took classes at Kansas University. She also worked at Hallmark Cards from 1963 to 1966. Don was active as a lay minister for many years before he and Jean were ordained and licensed in 1986 through the International Minister Forum, a worldwide missionary outreach. The last 14 years, Don has ministered at Bethel Fellowship in Cleveland, Mo., and officiated at services at a local funeral home. Jean has been active in the ministry with her husband as well as being a caregiver for family members. The couple have two sons, Derk L. Ogden of Lawrence and D. Christopher Ogden of Colorado Springs, Colo., four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.

The future bride is the daughter of Brad Ritschard, Portland, Ore., and Carolyn Ritschard, Corvallis, Ore. She is a graduate of Centennial High School in Gresham, Ore., and Mt. Hood Community College and is employed as a police officer in the Portland metro area. The future groom is the son of Mo Berry, Colby, and Pamela McClain, Lawrence. He is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Portland Community College and also is employed as a police officer in the Portland metro area. The couple plan a June 20, 2010, wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Christine Holden and Jay Pewenofkit, both of Eudora, were married Oct. 3, 2009, at the Lawrence Knights of Columbus hall with the Rev. Val Howland officiating. The bride is the daughter of Debra Pahdocony, Shawnee, Okla., and Tim and Pam Holden, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Lavern Tieyah, Shawnee, Okla., and the late Amos Pewenofkit. The bride was escorted by her grandfather, William Pahdocony. Maid of honor was Jody Jahn. Bridesmaids were Rachel Patneaude, Twylla Jimboy, Tamara Holden and Paula Sloan. Best man was Brock Robson. Groomsmen were Kyle Holden, Steadman Brown, Jay Narcomie and Brett Pittenger. Ushers were Chase Gudenkauf and Sean Pringe. A reception took place at the Knights of Columbus. Music was provided by Bob Lemmons, DJ. Jay is employed by Haskell Indian Nations University, and Christine works for Boston Financial in Lawrence. The couple will take their honeymoon at a later date and are making their home in Eudora.
