The couple has two daughters, Julie Tesch and husband Mark, Lawrence, and Stacey Leslie, Baldwin City; and three grandchildren, Sunney Tesch and Paige and Blake Leslie.
Williams Lewis and Marlene Williams, Perry, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception, hosted by their family, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 18 at the Buck Creek Schoolhouse, five miles east of Perry, off U.S. Highway 24. Lewis Williams Jr. and Marlene Gentry were married April 18, 1959, at Perry Methodist Church by the Rev. Walter Simpson. They have lived on the family farm east of Williamstown since 1960. Lewis retired from Hallmark Cards in Lawrence after 37 years of service and continues to farm. Marlene is a homemaker and has served their church and community in many capacities over the years. Their children are Rhonda and Phil Perry, Oskaloosa; Richard and Kelly Williams, Perry; and the Rev. Barry and Pam Williams, Madison, Neb. They have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. W. Stitt and Connie Robinson, Lawrence, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary March 29 with a reception, hosted by their children, Barry and Robert Cook, Leawood, and Walter and Linda Robinson, Seattle, at the Smith Center of Brandon Woods at Alvamar. They were married March 18, 1944. Connie was a teacher in the elementary and junior high schools of Lawrence, and served as the president of the University Women’s Club, the Friends of the Spencer Museum of Art and Zodiac Literary Club. Stitt served for four years in World War II in the European Theater as a captain of a glider unit of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of the Kansas University Department of History from 1950 until his retirement in 1988, and served as department chair from 1968 to 1973. He is the author of 11 books and over 40 scholarly articles. The couple reside at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
Alvin H. and Joyce Schild, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family celebration. They were married on the bride’s birthday, April 14, 1949, by the Rev. Peter Schild, the groom’s father, in Norwood, Minn. Both received graduate degrees from the University of Iowa. Alvin is an emeritus professor of education at Kansas University. Joyce is an artist and previous Phoenix award winner. They have lived in Lawrence since 1950. They have three daughters, Linda Twitchell, Bellingham, Wash., Darcy Schild, Lawrence, and Crystal Carstens and husband Ken, San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Dale and Judy Steinmetz Fowler, Perry, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 24. The couple were married April 24, 1959, at Williamstown Assembly of God. Dale retired in 1993 after 27 years of service at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company because of multiple sclerosis. Judy retired in 2002 after 19 years of service as secretary of the asphalt division for N.R. Hamm Quarries and Construction. They have a son, Eric and wife Sheila, Wellsville; and a one grandson.
